The House of Amouage

I've been blabbering about my trip to Dubai on twitter, instagram, and here for a while now, but I still haven't told you the real reason for my presence there. Last week I was welcomed to Dubai by the representatives of The House of Amouage, a renowned niche perfume house established in Sultanate of Oman and notorious for mixing raw materials of high quality using the art of perfumery to bring you unique fine fragrances. The invitation was to attend the exclusive Middle East launch of Amouage's latest fragrances for men and wemen, Interlude.

First of all, I must thank Amouage for spoiling  me rotten, from the moment I left the airport to the very last minute of my stay in Dubai. Everything was well organized and the service was impeccable. Thank you for making my stay a memorable and a pleasant one.

Right after checking into The Address hotel, my day started with a welcome kit from Amouage introducing me to their history and creations. They included a sample pack of some of their best-selling perfumes. Honestly, I must say that I've never heard of Amouage before the invite, as I'm not very up-to-date in the perfumes arena. But when I asked some of friends if they've heard of it, they all spoke very highly of Amouage

Founded almost 30 years ago, the international luxury fragrance house is devoted to creating finely blended perfumes with the highest quality of rare and luxurious ingredients sourced from around the world, bringing artistry to perfumery with incomparable distinction. Amouage perfumes are created by internationally recognised perfumers in Paris and in Grasse, South of France under the guidance of Amouage Creative Director, Christopher Chong.

I was surprised to find out that they have their own standalone shop in London’s eponymous district of Knightsbridge. And that they're currently being sold in more than 50 countries in the world’s most premier stores including Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, and Selfridges in London, Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, David Jones in Australia, KadeWe in Berlin, Bon Genie in Geneva and Bergdorf Goodman in New York City. Very impressive! After trying their samples at the hotel, I decided to visit their first international mono-brand shop located in Dubai Mall and bought some gifts for my family.

The view from my hotel room..

This is how the store looks like in Dubai Mall. I bought one of Amouage's perfumes called Honor and another one called Gold which were both highly recommended by my followers on instagram. I must warn you though, these perfumes are quite expensive, a bottle can cost up to KD 60+. I think they're the type of perfumes which complement bukhoor because they have a slightly strong smell, and preferably worn for special occasions.

While browsing their boutique, I came to know that Amouage also offers a Bath and Body Collection comprised of complementary soaps, hand creams, shower gels, body creams and body lotions, in addition to a Home Collection of candles and parfums d’ambience, a new range of travel accessories and exclusive leather goods hand crafted in Florence, Italy.

I'll be sharing more about Amouage later today or tomorrow... so stay tuned...

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
