Webby Wednesday: NINE IN THE MIRROR

Pregnancy is an exciting time. Shopping for maternity clothes is not. Trust me. I've been there. TWICE. I hated my 3rd trimester the most. I wanted to burn each piece of clothing I wore then. Sure I found a piece or two of decent maternity clothing that did not make me look frumpy, but 2 pieces were not enough to satisfy my fashion needs. I couldn't find a proper one destination to shop for chic maternity clothing. Years later, my prayers came true with the launch of online shopping site NINE IN THE MIRROR . I may not need it now, but it's good to know that the option is there if and when I'm preggers in the future. So how did the idea of NINE IN THE MIRROR came about? Well, fashion buyer Adriana Chryssicopoulos and online marketer Tatiana de Boisanger met while pregnant and in mutual despair over what to wear. So they launched this site that features expert editorial content alongside a hand-picked selection of straight-off-the-runway designer looks, in style

NunuPink 2016 collection by Reem Al Mudhaf

I have received an e-mail during Ramadan from the super talented Kuwaiti kaftans designer Reem Al Mudhaf of NunuPink with a lookbook revealing her latest designs for 2016. I have decided to share some of its photos here but only after Ramadan as I felt her designs deserve the exclusivity and privacy required to protect them from the most common issue with or local designers, the unwanted prying eyes, who tend to copy other designs and claim them as their own. For Ramadan 2016, Reem did not disappoint. Her caftan designs are made from the highest quality fabrics with the most innovative small details, meaning her caftans not only look fabulous but feel super comfortable to wear - essential for a glamorous ghabqa/Ramadan wardrobe. I must admit that when I first skimmed through the lookbook, I was somewhat neutral to the designs, something was off with the images and I still can't put my finger on it. I'm glad I decided to visit her studio and get a better look at her des

In My Closet: 1309

One of the biggest thrills about Caftans season isn’t just the launch of new caftans by “big” names that everyone knows and loves. Caftans season is a chance to scout out the latest and greatest in emerging talents. This season was no exception, I have been introduced to so many new local and regional brands and young talents that I never knew existed. Qatari-based brand 1309 was launched last year, but because I had already stocked up on caftans before the launch of their debut collection, I didn't get the chance to buy from their collection. This year however, I made it my mission to order since I knew that their design aesthetics would surely mean presenting something that won't disappoint, and guess what? They did meet and exceed my expectations. I think that 1309 is really having a moment. It managed to create pieces that well-dressed girls everywhere are starting to talk about. This season I fell in love with their Arabic calligraphy embroidered pie

You Snooze You Lose

While doing my monthly mobile clean-up , where I delete unwanted images to free up some space, I came across this image of me trying on the popular Victoria, Victoria Beckham bow-detail striped cotton-poplin shirt from the brand's Resort 2016 collection. I was patiently waiting for this piece to arrive AlOthman Boutique but when I tried it on I wasn't too sure about it, maybe it was the fit? Or the fact that I have too many (toooo manyyyy) striped shirts to justify another purchase. I ended up not buying it. It sold out in 2 days and now I kind of regret it -_-. HOWEVER the good news is that the same style will return for Summer 2017! (Yay!!), but in white (Nay!). So I'll just have to wait and see. Will have plenty of time to think about it.

My Eye on ecru

This clutch by ecru is supposed to be used for toiletries, makeup, or to organize your handbag with, but I fell in love with the fabric and print that I decided to wear it as an everyday clutch, and you know what the best part is? It only costs KD 6 (around 20$)!!! Insane I know! My bargain of the week. This eye-popping piece (see what I did there?) makes the perfect gift for your fashion-loving friends and can be worn with almost any of your casual pieces. trust me, I have tested it the entire past month. You can buy it online by clicking here .

Outfit of the Day

It seems that monochrome is my mantra these days. I paired my V-neck shirt by Peter Pilotto from AlOthman Fashion with one of my favorite purchases of the summer season, black slim pants with a skirt overlay and an oversized knotted detail by Joseph . My oldie but a goodie shark tooth necklace from Givenchy , and finished the look with a pair of Chanel slingbacks.

Mad for Madame Mantis

One of my ultimate favorite places to shop for furniture and home accessories (and mostly window shop), is Madame Mantis . I have previously posted about it here and here . We should move to our new home soon and I'm going to have to furnish an entire place which can be stressful. Madame Mantis is a little gem in the neighborhood. They have an eclectic mix of decor and furniture. I love their distinctive twist of things such as random lips-shaped or Kelly Wearstler’s super luxe head sculptures. I was especially in love with their lanterns and tables. They had a flash sale of 40% during the last week of Ramadan. I went there to get a quick look of what might work for my home and came out empty handed because i wanted literally EVERYTHING! And I'm clueless when it comes to decorating. I don't think I have this talent of properly decorating spaces. Anyhow, If you're in the market for a new couch, home accessories, or event a side table, this is the place to go!

Elephilphil Part 2

Oh no! Another Elephilphil to obsess about! And this time it's tinier and bright in one of my favorite shades, yellow! This cute little coin purse from Loewe , makes the perfect gift for your fashion savvy friends. I spotted it at the brand's boutique in Dubai while I was searching for my pink Elephilphil. Now that I found my pink elephant, I'm contemplating to get the yellow one, you know, to keep it company.

Webby Wednesday: My Eid Picks from www.LittleMaze.com

Any y ummy mommies out there with uber cool kids must head straight to this hip and new Kuwait-based online shopping site Little Maze . And the timing couldn't be more perfect! Last minute Eid shopping, or shopping for kids in general, is made easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy all thanks to Little Maze , a site dedicated for selling kidswear and kids accessories (and there are several stuff for moms too!!). I have been approached by the lovely team behind Little Maze to curate an edit of some of my favorite Eid-worthy pieces. Check them out online by clicking here .

Ballerina Girl

Fashion has always inspired dance-wear and dance has always inspired fashion. Take for example District Design's drama caftan, which you can see a glimpse of in this photo, the waves at the lower part of their caftan is created by layers upon layers of fabric, quite similar to ballerina's tutu skirt. So it felt completely fit to pair my Miu Miu satin ballet/Punk flats with the caftan. The result was beautiful! Wouldn't you say? You can buy them online here .

Choked up

My stylish friend J introduced me to this new local business called House of Jade . What they do is design customized chokers using your Arabic letter for KD 15 only. And since chokers are all the hype these days, and it looks so cute with the mini letter embroidered in gold on it, I gave in and got myself one. You can place your orders via whatsapp (+965) 97761669 or direct message them on instagram

Elephilphil

My 8 years old son is obsessed with elephants. I kid you not when I say he has at least 30 stuffed elephant toys laying down on his bed. All named and all loved equally the same. One of the nicknames that stuck to my mind is Elephilphil . I don't know if it's because I'm his mother, but I absolutely find the nickname so creative! And ever since he introduced me to Elephilphil , I became just as obsessed with elephants, maybe a little less than he is. So when I saw this cute little cross bag from Loewe shaped as a pink elephant , I just couldn't not get it! And I'm glad I did, the bag is perfect in size, the leather is buttery soft, and it's so light! The perfect summer and travel bag! You can buy it online here . Catch it before it's gone!

Outfit of the Day

Monochrome and minimal. For my outfit of the day, I chose a loose top with oversied high-neck by the talented Mr. Maticevski from AlOthman Boutique . I simply paired the top with my J Brand Jeans, and a pair of flat mules by Tibi .

Dress from the Feet up

Shoes euphoria! Here I come !

Just one of those days...

Can you guess what I'm trying to say? :) One of my favorite velvet slippers by Stubbs & Wootton . The brand is known for its iconic slippers and laid-back qualities, it portrays much-lauded tongue-in-cheek creations in the form of symbols, which reminds me, I need a new pair for the new season. They're unbelievably comfortable and I'm not the type that has the ability to keep shoes in great condition unfortunately, no matter how hard I try. My flats, especially summer flats, rarely last to the next season.

Home Finds: MILJØ INTERIOR of Berlin

Planning a trip to Berlin this Summer? Allow me to introduce you to an interior jewel in the heart of the city. Not far from KaDeWe , Berlin's version of Harrods: MILJØ INTERIOR . It stocks a variety of furniture and home accessories for the typical Nordic atmosphere. I fell in love with the way they visually merchandised the store, and how every item beautifully compliments its surroundings. They do have a shop online and they do ship internationally. You'll just need a translator as the site is not in English.

That is the question...

Which is more disturbing? The fact that it's nearly impossible to find someone in Kuwait to replicate the design and the layout of these tiles? or the fact that my converse sneakers are shown in every picture?! My apologies for that! These pictures were taken during my last visit to Berlin and they're original tiles from 1890's.

Word.

Words of Wisdom...

Outfit of the Day

I’ve had this photo taken and this post in the works for weeks and finally posting it today! Seriously, took me long enough. Anyhow, I have a thing for fringed skirts. So when I found the perfect one which I didn't need to splurge on, all thank to Zara , I have decided to pair it with my Masterpeace Kimono-inspired top from AlOthman Boutique, and many other casual pieces, like a sweatshirt, a knitted top, and a dress. The options were endless! I tied the look together with a pair of my my black suede and pearl heels by Nicholas Kirkwood .

Outfit of the Day

I'm obsessed with Mira Mikati's eye-catching, quirky cool and playful designs. The cartoons, vibrant graphics, and oversized emoji characters attached to its casual chic pieces makes Mira Mikati the go-to brand for weekend dressing. I got this shirt from AlOthman Boutique .

Outfit of the Day

You can never go wrong with a torn distressed denim jacket, or maybe you can if worn with Jane-Fonda-Style-leotard!, to me, this denim jacket ups the cool ante of any of our my outfits, I got it a couple of years back from Paper Denim . I took this photo when the weather was cooler earlier in the year obviously, and I just got the chance to post about this casual and comfy outfit. I paired my denim jacket with my GAP khaki pants (I truly believe the GAP has the best and most flattering denim pants!), a grey knitted top from J crew , and a pair of soon-to-be Gucci 's worn and torn fur-lined loafers . And here's a close up of how I decorated my denim jacket just to give it a funky twist. A Robot! How lucky am I to get this cute little robot pin as a gift from my dearest friend! According to her, the manufacturer of the pin takes inspiration from the precision and quality of military embroideries. It's such a small but very precious gift.

The One That Got Away....

If there is one thing I regretted not buying from the Spring/Summer 2016 collections is this Rosie Assoulin crochet jug bag. I had the opportunity to pre-order it but I was a bit hesitant of its practicality. I wish I didn't hesitate and went for it, because I've been looking for it for months now and it's sold out technically everywhere! It would have been the perfect match with my Ramadan caftans. Oh well, if you happen to know a place I could still find out, please do let me know!  Moral of this post: When you heart stops a beat at an accessory or a piece of clothing you really really like, go for it (provided that you have the means to splurge that it).

In My Closet: High Impact Florals

It was the explosion of florals on this Preen by Thornton Bregazzi long sleeves peplum top that caught my fashion radar last season. Pretty silk blooms all hand-stitched, decorated with small beads and silk threads, made this top my perfect pic for parties and formal events. I paired mine with a pair of cropped black satin pants and some colorful jeweled earrings.

House of Teal

So I haven't been writing much reviews on here, but once I heard about multi-talented Bahrain-based interiors and space designer Ammar Basheir's latest retail adventure, I just had to post about it (and kick start my blogging days maybe?). The store really should earn a five star review, walking through this beyond beautiful gallery, one feels as if he/she is visiting the home of a very chic family, with a flair for retro designs.
