Prada Oasis & Damien Hirst's Pharmacy Juice Bar

The “Prada Oasis and Damien Hirst’s Pharmacy Juice Bar”, a collaborative project between Damien Hirst , Miuccia Prada and Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) , was launched to mark “Relics”, a major retrospective of the British artist's work held in QMA (ALRIWAQ DOHA, 10 October 2013 - 22 January 2014). The “Prada Oasis and  Damien Hirst  s Pharmacy Juice Bar” took place on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 October 2013 in the desert, to the north of Doha, Qatar.  “ Damien Hirst 's Pharmacy Juice Bar” is a reinterpretation of his famous “Pharmacy Restaurant,” designed by the artist in London in 1998. The installation within the desert draws upon the traditions of a Bedouin tent, reinterpreting it in the style of a modern day pharmacy. Two human skeletons hang either side of the bar area which is a large lightbox with repeated pill print. The tent fabric has been printed with a pharmaceutical pattern, both on the inte...

LFW: Wilbur & Gussie

During London Fashion Week I spotted these elegant clutches by a brand called Wilbur & Gussie . The clutch handbags featured eye-catching prints, vibrant colors, and the cutest jeweled brooch fastenings of different animals like turtles, frogs, and tigers. They're quite affordable in price, around KD 57, which makes them perfect for gifting, or for those who have limited spending budget when it comes to shopping. You can view similar styles here .

LFW: Ready-to-Wear

You know that annoying feeling when you listen to a song that you actually know but you can't recall who sings it?? That's exactly how I feel now! I remember seeing this stunning metallic laser-cut blue top with a gorgeous layered polka-dots pencil skirt but I can't recall who the designer is!! How could I possibly forgot the brand!! They were my favorite London Fashion Week 's Ready-to-wear pieces on display! Oh well, it's no use crying over spilled milk. If anyone knows by any chance the creative mind behind these beauties, please leave a comment on this post. Moving on.... Another brand that I really liked from the Ready-to-Wear Spring/Summer 2013 collections was Fyodor Golan . Launched in 2010, the designers behind the brand previously worked with the likes of Richard Nicoll , Alexander McQueen , Raf Simons and Issey Miyake before launching their own. Their designs, mostly cocktail dresses and evening gowns, had this beautiful dramatic silhouette in st...

Event: Experimentواحد

I don't recall I have ever been or seen an exhibition in Kuwait where everything, from A to Z, looked flawless quite like Experimentواحد exhibition, which was held last week at Arabana Warehouse in Al Raay.  The display, the collection, the whole ambiance, everything was just perfect. To say I am impressed by Experimentواحد and their work would be an understatement. Architects Dalal Al Hashash , Fatma Al Obaid , and Khawla Al Hussaini have managed to design and produce handbags using industrial material, genuine leather, and other unexpected details, and were able to add beauty, creativity, and femininity to industrial pieces. Think ropes weaved into beautiful geometric shapes, delicately laser-cut leather in pretty shapes; perfect stitching, and bright florescent plexi details. As I scanned each handbag at the exhibition, which by the way they were beautifully displayed in a very artistic installation (shown in the photos below), I realized how much efforts were put into...

Turkish Treasure

Every fashion savvy lady knows that the easiest way to transform your look is with statement accessories. And recently I have received an e-mail from a half Turkish half Palestinian Jewelry designer based in Istanbul, who shared her beautiful pieces with me. The verdict?  Ottoman Chic  makes perfecting the high-low mix of statement accessories a piece of cake.  Ottoman Chic  is an unconventional bridge jewelry line comprised of authentic and diverse designs intended to meet the taste of all women. All designs are hand-made and are 24-Karat gold plated and unique in their compilation of semi-precious stones and pearls. The designer limits the designs to a maximum production cap to avoid giving it a "mass-produced" feel.   Ottoman Chic  brings together the cultural diversity of the Middle East and mystique of the Ottoman empire while being heightened with the touch of graceful imagination, a mosaic of colors, elements, and feelings. ...

Dear Confashion: A Necklace or a Hair Band?

I have received an e-mail from rep of a brand called Dauphines of New York hair accessories.  What I loved about this brand is that it offers a collection of adjustable headbands that serve dual purpose - functioning as both headband and necklace. Isn't that genius?! You can wear the headband 1920s flapper-style, or the common standard styel, hippie chic style a la Nicole Richie, and finally as a statement necklace. The designs feature an adjustable band to allow for this interchangeable function, while also providing tailored comfort of fit. Prices range from $70-$225, and materials utilized are of finest quality (natural Agate, Citrine, Turquoise and Amethyst stones, Swarovski crystals, weightless metal chains, minimalist mesh, classic pearls and tortoise toggle, woven leather and suede). Dauphines of New York debuted via a series of trunk shows at BERGDORF GOODMAN and Henri Bendel . Select styles will soon be available on www.shopbop.com . In addition, their hair cho...
