Amouage at At.mosphere

To welcome us to the exclusive Middle East launch of Amouage's latest fragrances for men and wemen, the peeps at The House of Amouage took us to a wonderful and exquisite place to dine, mingle, and know more about Interlude, their latest fragrance. Held above the city's mayhel and nestled in tranquility, a private dinner was hosted by Amouage Creative Director Christopher Chong at At.mosphere Grill's dinning room in Burj Khalifa, the world's highest restaurant in the world's tallest building.

And just before dinner was served, Mr. Chong started his presentation on Amouage’s latest creations for man and woman, Interlude. He explained how this perfume evokes an air of disorder while maintaining a sense of balance and tranquility through the inventive use of Frankincense and Myrrh. The fragrances take one moment in time for self-reflection and personal discovery to compose internal harmony from external chaos.

“I interpret what I see and feel into scents,” says Christopher Chong, Amouage Creative Director. “All the social and natural chaos and disorder surrounding us today can be translated to a much more intimate level. The interlude moment is a reflection of all the trials and tribulations one overcomes to attain personal satisfaction and achievement.”

Interlude Woman has more of a floral chypre with a mix of Bergamot , rose, Frankincense, and Sandalwood. These ingredients are masqueraded with an unconventional combination of nut, coffee, kiwi, honey and Agarwood.

Interlude Man, which I personally liked even more and got one for myself, has more of a Zesty smell. It also has a unique mix of oregano and pimento berry oil, amber, frankincense, Myrrh, Agarwood smoke, Patchouli, and Sandalwood. Unlike other commercial perfumes, Amouage is re-inventing accustomed scents to present us with something that you'd probably find it impossible to get something similar with a different brand. And that's what made me admire the brand.

Christopher Chong, Amouage Creative Director giving us a presentation about the newly launched perfumes. It was a pleasure getting to know the creative force behind this concept. He really knew  how to break the ice among the 14 guests with his sense of humor and friendliness.

It's very smart the way they incorporated Interlude's perfume bottles and iPad-like screens, showing the perfume's TV ad campaign, as part of the evening theme and decor.

Would you look at that amazing table setting!!

To test the perfumes, we were presented with these rose-shaped silk buds which were already sprayed with the new perfumes.

The bottle of the men's fragrance is designed to emulate the khanjar, or the traditional dagger worn by Omani men, where the cap resembles the ornate hilt of the dagger.

Gorgous setting! And that light piece is just beyond beautiful!

The view from the restaurant, located on 122nd level of Burj Khalifa, is  just breathtaking! I did feel a little bit scared when I stood close to the window!

Oh my god the food presentation!! Not only so pretty to look at, culinary art at its finest, but it also tasted soooo good! In the photo above is the appetizer, it was shrimp seasoned with I don't know what! And it was resting on a very thin layer of precisely cute watermelon. I forgot to take photos of the main dish, which was grilled hammour, and the other appetizer. For desserts we were treated first with lemon sorbet (featured on my instagram) and fig ice cream decorated with edible rose petals and had a layer of a yummy citrus-flavored cake below. I strongly recoomend visting this restaurant next time you're in Dubai!

And that's all folks! Thank you Amouage for this memorable experience and special thanks to the organizers of the trip for their amazing assistance.

Saks In Bahrain

I went to Saks Fifth Avenue store in Bahrain. The two-level store is located in City Centre Mall and has a collection of American and international clothes designers for Men and Women as well as jewelry, accessories, handbags, fragrances, cosmetics, intimate apparel, bridal, and children's apparel. However, I was slightly disappointed by the small selection, maybe because all items were on sale? Or the number and variety of brands were limited? Anyhow, my favourite section at Saks - Bahrain was Saks's world-famous 10022-SHOE salon (shown in the photo below). It had the same look & feel of the NY's shoe salon but of course not the same space. The Shoe Salon had really nice selection and they were all on sale! I have been told by Saks Sales Assistant that they will be hosting numerous special events throughout the year such as fashion shows and personal appearances by designers. Now that's something I'd be interested in! In addition, they currently offer in-st
