BLAQ Concept Store

What do you do when a girl whom you've been secretly crushing over her sense of style opens up a multi-brand concept store? You cancel all your plans for the day and zoom head straight to her new fashion home, aka the store. That's exactly what I did when I heard Sarah Al Mussalam, one of the co-founders of  BLAQ , opened up a concept store for men and women at Shuwaikh's Altelal Complex. Naturally and as expected, it did not disappoint on brands selection, price, or service. The cool thing was that I felt right at home from the moment I walked in the door, on my left was a seating area that could perfectly fit into any modern-loving home, and to my right was a small kitchenette with it's cozy seating area, which soon will be a full-functioning cafe for passer-bys and shoppers. As for the majority of the space, it was dedicated to women's and men's clothes and accessories.  The softly-opened store   BLAQ    offers a selection that will ...

Take a Bow

Here's a very interesting spin to men's neckwear and to looking fine and dandy . I spotted these really cool bow ties made out of ceramic and bamboo at Boutique 4 the other day. I couldn't tell which brand they were by. But with a little help from Mr. Google, I came across an Italian accessories brand called Cor Sine Labe Doli that designs ceramic bow ties, not sure if they're by the same brand though. I'd totally wear the ceramic one, not sure if I'll be making a fashion faux pas, but it looks too cute and too cool to resist! Pace tag? Around KD 63.

The Outlet Store

Two of my ultimately favorite boutiques in Kuwait, 4 Concept store and AlOthman Boutique , have recently joined forces and unveiled their Outlet Store for men and women's clothes and accessories., all marked down up to 90% off. Imagine, deeply discounted Charlotte Olympia's , glamorous Erdem and Oscar de la Renta evening gowns and cocktail dresses, and uber-chic Alexander Wang and Rick Owens pieces - it's a sight for sore eyes. I mean who doesn't love a deal. The outlet is very spacous and items were neatly displayed. However I wish clothes were organized by brand, but then again it's probably impractical for an outlet to do that. Of course I headed straight to the shoes and accessories sections because they're always fun and timeless, especially when you are shopping with a more discerning eye and a tight fist. There were a lot of still-in-style, high-quality pieces to grab, mixed in with some extremely hard-to-pull-off pieces. What do you expect?...

Who Let the Dogs Out

I'm not a huge fan of dogs. No matter how big/small they are or how cute/not-so-cute they look. They make me nervous, I just can never tell if they're just excited or about to bite me. That said, I wouldn't mind getting a Rottweiler.... a Givenchy Rottweiler to be exact. I spotted the clutch at this event and have been looking for it ever since but unfortunately it is sold out everywhere. Givenchy's Rottweiler-print sleeveless tee is also sold out. BUT I did find the Rottweiler-print cotton-jersey t-shirt at the men's section of Givenchy boutique, located at 360 Mall.  Priced at KD 89, it's a fun way to give your casual and weekend looks some chic bite . This cotton-jersey piece is a great for layering especially now that the weather is unpredictable. Wear it under a leather bomber jacket or sharply tailored blazer with cropped jeans or leather leggings or boyfriend-cut jeans.

Pumped Up Kicks

I remember reading somewhere that French designer Isabel Marant described her feelings to her most-wanted and much-hyped sneakers as “proud and disgusted”. And I'm not surprised, the Bekkets have been featured on almost every single media channel a zillion time, unfortunately including mine. And they have been replicated by high-street brands and other factories in China like there's no tomorrow. Apparently, Isabel Marant is suing Steve Madden, notorious for making copies of designer shoes, because they have duplicated the design. That said, I think this season will be the last time I get to wear and tear my Marants, which means I need a new pair of pumped up kicks. So while in Dubai, I came across some really really really cool sneakers which I added to my shopping list already. Unfortunately, two of them are from the Men's section, you know what this means? Look but don't touch. Here's a quick rundown of some sizzling sneakers for men and women spotte...
