I have heard of the " it " bag, and the " it " shoes, but this season the fashion industry came up with a thing called the " it " dress. But of course, it's the type of dress that apparently flatters all body shapes and has been donned by several celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson (shown here in her black version of the dress), Kiera Knightly, Madonna, and Kirstin Davis in one of her SATC movie scenes ( it was a red dress ). Hands ( and feet ) down, Bubbles is the best nail spa I have ever been to in Kuwait. For the first time ever, I didn't smudge my nail polish while paying for the heavenly service. Once upon a time while skimming through my magazines, I found this picture of Mary Kate carrying a mysterious and exotic looking clutch which I instantly fell in love with. Unfortunately, back then, I couldn't find out who the genius designer behind this envelop-like-leather creation with a bracelet handle and a huge stone decorating the flap of the clutch. It was a heartbreaking ending.. and I moved on. Until one day... I was shopping at Alothman and found the yummiest clutches in exotic skins and ruched patent leather and some were adorned with semi-precious jewels that looked very familiar. Suddenly I was having flashbacks of my "clutch love at first sight". So I immediately investigated the situation and found out later on that the clutch was indeed designed by the same designer. Villa Moda's Seasonal Sale has to be the craziest shopping day of the year. I love the thrill of spreading the word to my close fashionistas about the sale and getting a good deal, but queuing in line for hours and fighting over items is not my thing. My fashionable sources told me that people lined up outside the store around 9:30 AM even though doors open at 10AM. Girls were holding 6-7 Prada bags and 4 pairs of Gucci shoes to buy, it takes 45 minutes to an hour to add an item to your VM's card purchase and pay your bill, some women were extremely rude to staff and fellow shoppers. That is so surreal! I can't stand the attitude, the noise, the general craziness of it all. And that is why I avoid those sales on their first day. Dries Van Noten fans, BEHOLD! Soon you'll be scouting through the fabulous colorful collection of Dries Van Noten at it's stand-alone boutique at Villa Moda Shuwaikh, Free Trade Zone. The fashion fairy told me that the boutique will be up and running for Fall 2008. Dries Van Noten is one of those designers whom I really like for their directional yet original designs. His amazing way of mixing prints, textures, and colors makes his clothes extremely too irresistible to ignore. And I personally think that his silhouettes flatter every body shape. Can't wait for the opening! Oh! And by the way , it's confirmed (as shown in the above photo), Villa Moda Warehouse has moved to Villa Moda Mubarikiya .

Max Azria's first freestanding boutique in Kuwait is now open at Arraya Complex. I was thrilled when I first heard about it, but all the excitement quickly gone away the moment I stepped into the store. MAJOR disappointment. I was hoping to find unconventional, stylish, and one of a kind pieces that I used to see abroad. The selection looked a bit outdated and too... blah! The store had a selection of flowy chiffon and silk dresses, curve-hugging cardigans, and wide pyjama-like pants. The only thing at the store that was slightly satisfying was the small selection of shoes and handbags/clutches. They had an oversized pink salmon clutch which looked really cute. And I liked one pair of navy snake-skin heels trimmed with cobalt blue leather. But the price tag turned me off especially that they're not known to be shoe makers. It was retailed at KD 305.
