Glamour on Guard

Can you believe that this fashion editorial Glamour on Guard is the work of  Kuwait-based online lifestyle portal Khaleejesque ? From the photography to the set design, you can easily mistake it for an editorial in an  international fashion magazine. I feel really proud to see such a tremendous amount of work pulled by young and talented local team. WTG!

Meet Silvana

Move over Peek-a-Boo, there's a new hot bag stealing the scene: Fendi's Silvana.  As I promised in my previous post , I'll be dedicating a post for Silvana because it's been a while since I was last obsessed with a Fendi bag that much. I remember almost 7 years ago (wow! It's been that long!?!) I had the same obsession for Fendi's Spy bag. The Silvana comes in a variety of colors and a mix of leathers: croco and calfskin, plain calfskin, and calfskin with canvas. And it's quite reasonably priced compared to other designer brands, except for the croco ones that is. Also what I love about it is that it's very light to carry, spacious enough to put your stuff inside, its structured shape is very ladylike, and finally perfect for casual outings and formal events like receptions and dinner gatherings. All featured picture were taken during my stay in London except for the red one, it's available at Fendi's boutique in Salhiya Complex. Like it? Catch

Lady in Lace

Siiiiiiiiiiigh Erdem  Moralioglu.   This man is a genius. Almost every piece he creates is simply gorgeous! How could someone possibly settle for one dress?! It's nearly impossible! And I love how he incorporates lace into each design. Let's see some of my favorite lace dresses from Erdem and new brand  Alessandra   Rich   all availble at Al Othman Boutique in Salmiya.  Look at how stunning this white floral-embroidered organza dress. Price tag? A hefty KD 2,239. Erdem Embroidered lace crepe dress Price tag? KD 1,899 Erdem's Margot lace dress <3 Price tag? KD 899 I liked this Alessandra Rich elegant cotton, silk-blend, and Chantilly lace gown with florescent belt, but felt it was more appropriate for a different age group. Price tag? KD 1,169.

Remixed Arabia

Jassim Al Saddah , a Kuwaiti artist with a beautiful creative mind. This is not the first time I feature Jassim on my blog. I have been to two previous exhibitions were he participated in ( here and here ) and his work was absolutely mesmerizing. So when I went to Jassim's first Solo exhibition titled FILIM : Remixed Arabia , which unveiled earlier tonight at Sultan Gallery, I knew he would not disappoint. Jassim used 12 posters of popular and iconic movies and remixed them in a way where he used Arabic actors/actresses/singers and renamed the movie's title to reflect the Arabian culture. For instance, Egyptian actress Shaddiya was on the poster of Wizard of Oz, Suad Hussney was Audrey Hepburn, The movie Chicago was remixed using Ragheb Allama, Haifa'a Wahby, and Nancy Ajram. I enjoyed playing the guessing game in front of each poster. I had to get some tips from Jassim for a couple of posters that I did not recognize though. Anyhow, here's a sneak peak of my favorite

The Best Dressed. Period.

Sometimes when I'm at a reception or a wedding or a gathering with my friends or sisters, the topic of "who's the best dressed girl of the evening" always arises in our chit-chatting session. Which is normal, us being girls who love fashion and appreciate beauty and style. And since I tend to be picky and a perfectionist I don't always give out high scores to the chosen "best dressed" girl.  HOWEVER,  Afrah and Sara Bou Hamra , fashionable financers from my hometown, are a different story. Not only they managed to break the norm in our Kuwaiti fashion scene (style and brains, me like!), but they also managed to get an A+ out of stingy moi. As you can see (top to bottom), they were featured in Harper's Bazaar best dressed list, looked fabulous at the 1st Haute Muse event rubbing shoulders with Olivia, and finally and most recently attended Haute Muse's second "Meet the designers" event. Kudos to their fabulous personal style.  *2nd a

Walkin to Über Style

Channel your inner Lady Gaga in a subtle and slightly understated way with these very avant-grade Linda Farrow's sunglasses which I spotted at Walkin Closet the other day. I loved these very edgy Linda Farrow for Alexander Wang's pointy cat eye sunglasses. And check out the one on the top which are shaped like two hands, now these are too daring for me. I would were them for a costume party if I ever decide to dress as Lady Gaga. Check out the other cool and very wearable designs shown below.  OK,  Walkin Closet  has officially won me over. Their selection this season is just awesome! Though I would have loved to see bigger or more stock to satisfy my shopping cravings. And I like their approach in selecting new and under-the-radar brands. Scroll down to see what I'm referring to.  I also spotted these absolutely fabulous structured blazers by a Korean brand called  Kaal E.Suktae . And I fell in loooove. Can we have more pretty please  Walkin Closet ers?

Here Comes the Modern Bride

Finding a regional designer who designs simple yet sophisticated and glamorous bridal gowns is a rare commodity. And that's what I noticed when I first got introduced to a new Lebanese brand called Azzi & Osta . The brand emphasizes on structure and a timeless, refined elegance.  Azzi & Osta is a brand that has added a new tagline to the Lebanese fashion scene; a tagline described as a bridge between the dynamics of our modern world and constant thirst for new interpretations for aesthetics. The brand is the brainchild of the designer-duo: George Azzi and Assaad Osta. The two were born in 1986 and joined ESMOD- Beyrouth in 2004 where they got their first chance to explore each other's creative powers. In 2007, Upon delivering their collection for the final project at ESMOD, George Azzi and Assaad Osta won the prize of the president of the Jury Elie Saab and the prize of jury respectively. In which after both became assistant designers at Elie Saab for 18 months; duri

Just Like Miu Miu...

Just like Miu Miu’s glittery loafers , these  too-cool-for-school loafers are available at Zadig & Voltaire's boutique in the Avenues phase II and I think they retailed for less than KD 100 if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure they're at least 30% cheaper than Miu Miu's .

Event: ArtSharks ArtHouse curated by Manayer AlSharekh

I had the pleasure to attend The ARTSHARKS ARTHouse exhibition, which is currently held at FA Gallery until 3rd April, to showcase works from 12 of its contemporary Arab artists.  Founded by a Kuwaiti entrepreneur and a Central Saint Martin's graduate with a strong passion for art Manayer AlSharekh ,  ARTSHARKS  aims to bridge the art gap by providing a network and exchange where members are exposed to art from all over the world and discover new and upcoming artists to provide them with the necessary exposure. The exhibition was set up well and the art was of strong quality. Definitely another great indicator for the future of art market in Kuwait. I have taken some photos of some of my favorite pieces to share with you.  This "Fourth Pyramid" piece is one of ArtSharks productions on display Stunning work by Kuwaiti artist Dana Al Hilal titled icons: Um Kalthom, Fayrouz, and I think that's Laila Murad? Asmahan (Amal al-Atrash). Dana spent sometime in Florence
