Crochet & Gabbana

D&G’s new season’s accessories collection has hit AĆÆshti boutique in the Avenues. I was also surprised to find some new crochet covered handbags from Dolce & Gabbana like the ones featured in the first and second photo. I always thought they only stock D&G not the brand’s main line. Oh well, the more the merrier I guess!  I have a love/hate relationship with the black leather chain bag decorated with crochet, how can I describe it, coasters? What do you think? A buy or a no-no?

Just Like YSL...

Just like YSL's charm embossed shopping bag but from UterqĆ¼e and it retails for KD 79. Not bad at all!

I Heart My: Butter Hot Shoes

I Heart My is the latest segment on Confashions where you'll get to see people in the fashion and blogging world sharing their #1 most favorite fashion item.  First up is Zubaida from Butter Hot Shoes , she is a Dubai-based fashion blogger, artist, and student of Dental Surgery (or as I would like to refer to her as Blogger, beauty and brains).  She is one of the sweetest bloggers around  with an amazing taste for shoes.  I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy reading her blog . So, take it away Zubaida…. "My Love 100 suede pumps by Christian Louboutin are my favorite. I have a lot of shoes from Christian Louboutin which are also very hot but this pair I can't live without because they have a unique beauty. The fact that they are black pumps means I can wear them with anything I want and the strass " Love " is just so romantic and adds a pretty bling effect to the outfit. The heels are approximately 4 inches, which means they are walkable for a long time

Spring in Zara

Spring has finally hit Zara ! It was sooo uplifting to see pieces in solid blocks of primary and secondary colours after months of neutrals and grays.  Loved the bright orange scrub/tantheefco fitted pants which also come in cobalt blue, emerald green, and hot fuchsia.  Imagine pairing them with tops covered with a multitude of spaghetti and thick stripes a la Prada style.  The shoes weren't that bad either. Well actually from the ones featured here, the cobalt blue was quite nice and there was a similar version in mustard yellow, but the multi-coloured strappy sandals were only nice from a far. I didn't like the finishing up-close. Can't wait to see what  Zara   has for us in the weeks to come.

Du Fleur

This post is long overdue, but I finally managed to have the time to write about a brand that infatuated me while shopping in Starch Boutique in Beirut a few months ago.  Allow me to introduce you to Emily Cremona , establish by two young designers in autumn of 2009.  Emily Cremona was selected to showcase their first collection at Starch Boutique in October 2010. I have contacted the designers to know more about them and their collection. Deena Cremona Wassef is a Lebanese-Egyptian designer who studied fashion design at Notre Dame University, where she received a high honor bachelor degree in 2009. Wassef, the designer of the brand, co-founded Emily Cremona with Rouba Emily Mouawad, Lebanese, who studied Interior Design at the Lebanese American University, who also recently graduated with a bachelor degree in spring 2010. In A/W 2010/2011, Emily Cremona revealed its “ Du Fleur ” collection. They sought to create garments envisioning an androgynous type of silhouette, one that

The Man Who Sold The World

Loved this David Bowie t-shirt with a lightning bolt on his face from Zara's men collection.  With some minor alterations on this size "S" tee, it would make a nice top for my casual outings. A classic for all lovers of the one and only David Bowie.

Still Cruisin'

Antonio Marras is one of the boutiques in K-town that recently joined the cruise collection wagon. I used to LOVE Antonio Marras back in the day when it used to be stocked at Villa Moda , now not so much for some reason.  Maybe it needed to show something new? I don’t know.  Anyways, I did find 2 items from the cruise collection that I actually liked, the rest were quite boring.  First item was this blooming buds motif cotton dress. The dress has very nice details, very summery, and easy to wear. Price tag? KD 225. And if you’re the type that goes crazy over the glamorous early-'60s style, then you’ll love this Marras metallic dress depicted on the phenomenal TV show Mad Men.  The dress is suitable for formal dinners, small and intimate weddings, and receptions. Price tag? KD 425

Red Hot Chilli Dress

I was looking for this red hot structured and full dress from Zara’s evening collection (who would have guessed that this was Zara !?!?!) ever since I first saw it on their online lookbook. I went to every Zara branch in Kuwait but couldn’t find it. That was sometime in December last year and the flame has gone out only to be ignited by the cruise collections in other boutiques.  A few days ago, I went into Zara and found the dress right there in front of me and it was the last piece! I was thrilled in the beginning and hurried to the fitting room to try it on. It looked quite nice, but it was too late. I already got my S/S priorities straight so au revoir lady in red.

4 Gifting

Finding a unique gift idea for somebody special is not always easy, but I honestly think that Boutique 4 had made it a whole lot easier for me at least. I recently stumbled upon one of the best gift ideas ever at Boutique 4 perfect for those who appreciate avant-garde home accessories.  I fell in love with these sexy legs"ceramic tea-pot and matching tea cup. And check out this tray with 3-d design effect of watches, this would look smashing on a coffee table. Another item I loved was the black leather statement necklace, it had a very edgy design to it with different leather strings and ropes intertwined to give a beautiful effect.

I Heart My: By The Fashion Network

Being surrounded by beauty and fashion offline and online always makes me wonder about pieces we treasure in our closets and wouldn't dare throw away. So I have decided to add a new feature on my blog titled I Heart My to explore THE one fashion item that you can't live without and will treasure forever. I'll be approaching inspiring and motivated people from the fashion world and blogesphere plus shed some light on why they do. And I'm pleased to start off with the fab fashionistas behind The Fashion Network . The Fashion Network is a Dubai-based organization that organizes networking events specialized for the fashion industry, including offering emerging designers an opportunity to showcase their collections to press, buyers and potential clients. Their next step is the launching ‘Fashion Helps!’ an organization that will encourage fashion conscious individuals to be more involved with good causes and charity. The Fashion Network recently hosted an exclusive net

Just Like Valentino...

Zara really knows which designer to pick and copy. Check out theses patent studded flats, Zara took its inspiration from Valentino flats which I have featured once here . Not bad but definitely not as good!

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p
