Confashions From Kuwait

I have a confession to make, I sometimes, not quite very often but still I do, buy fashion magazines in foreign languages to scout for international talents. Even though I don't understand a word in the, the photos are enough to say a thousand words, of course and then I have to scan the article for the designer's name, google it, read more about it to understand the story behind the brand or the special piece featured in the magazine.  Rodrigo Massot  is one of my recent foreign finds. He's s a young Brazilian jewelry designer who's fascinated by the art of the ancient world. He makes fine jewelry with the most exceptional designs using beautiful precious stones and diamonds. I couldn't find much about him online. His instagram account though had some real eye candy. I fell in lust with his earrings, they look like they're a one of a kind pieces that will leave people talking, in a good way. I hope they don't break the bank… I'll leave you now with

During a recent visit to Dubai, I came across a furniture and home accessories boutique at Dubai's JBR The Walk. The uber-cool space is called  Mood  and it stocks a wide range of brands from Italy, Germany, Portugal, Denmark, France, Belgium and China.  Mood  is the kind of place where you will find the perfect combination for a unique and inspirational environment, the coolest  homeware and accessories for your home, and probably the most stylish house-warming gifts for the perfect present. I loved so many things on display but had to settle for only one piece, I bought sculpture of a man, best known as The Visitor . It's h andcrafted by Belgian artist Guido Deleu . The Visitor Sculpture is a series of ceramic figurines finished with only natural elements like clay and color pigments. I thought it would make a striking addition to our TV Room. I'm planning to buy more of it once we move as it would look great in a grouping of multiples. I can't say enough

Just when I thought everything has been done and seen in the jewelry design industry, the instagram world throws me one extremely delicious bone, we're talking about every girl's best friends: hard-to-find jewelry. A few months ago I came across a new designer called Sopho Gongliashvili , thanks to the instagram account of   facehunter . The  Georgia -based Jewelry and furniture designer  Sopho Gongliashvili  uses an ancient jewellery-making technique with enamel and fine silver to create her gigantic rings and brooches. According to the designer's insta, everything that is made with this technology is created with the help of love, bearing parts of stories and tales.  What caught my attention in her designs are the female characters wearing burqa (a mask that covers their faces revealing only the eyes). Apparently one of these characters has a name and it's Gürcü Hatun (however her original name is Tamar Bagrationi ), a Georgian royal princess from Bagrationi

I was walking randomly around Souk Mubarakiya the other day, which is one of my favorite things to do recently, and came across these bright beaded necklaces. I was more interested in the neutral colored ones with the vintage-like metal charm. "They're not for sale", told me the sales guy referring to the ones with the mental charms which of course I fell in love with the most. "What do you mean?!! You have to sell them! To me!". The guys shook his head in refusal. I was only able to buy the rest of the colored beads. Oh well... I shrugged my shoulders, took these photos for future reference in case I change my mind and left in peace. Note to retailers, please don't display something in your store that cannot be purchased by a client, not a very pleasant experience for a hard core shopper.

Everybody who knows me, knows that I fully support footwear lust—especially when the shoes have a hint of quirky-coolness to their design. Sometime I just like to keep my outfits simple an fuss-free, especially on lazy weekends. Last Friday I chose to pair my TopShop jeans with long sleeves top with ruched detail from the front by Elizabeth and James , and a clean-cut long navy wool vest with contrast back by Victoria Beckham Denim . I finished the look with a pair of plaid Golden Goose sneakers and a quirky cool lego man brooch by one of my close and lovely super stylish friend which she bought from the Far East.

Anya Hindmarch got her groove back with her designs this year, wouldn't you say? Last season I bought the red clutch with the gigantic tassel detail, similar to the one shown here minus the eyes, and now after seeing this design I kind of want to get this one too but it doesn't make sense to buy the exact same style! Well unless it was a Celine nano bag, then that's a whole different story, I wouldn't mind buying one every season! Yes. That's how obsessed I am with it. I guess for now I'll just have to settle for window shopping when it comes to these funky fresh clutches. You know that feeling you get when you find the most amazing spot for your vacation and don't feel like sharing it to the world? I was glad to finally settle for this outfit for the private dinner hosted by FarFetch and Style.com Arabia. I chose to wear a Maison Rabih Kayrouz sleeveless shirtdress with massive ruffle detail on the front, topped it off with nude blazer by TopShop , Alexander Wang's nude heels, and my bespoke Edie Parker clutch.

In my previous post I promised to elaborate more on Manarat Al Saadiyat , a 15,400 square metre arts and culture centre in Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi. I couldn't help but feel proud of this place rich of culture and art (and I'm not even an Emirati!).  Manarat Al Saadiyat  constitutes of permanent spaces for a series of exhibitions, international art collections, and educational programmes organized by  Tourism Development Investment Company (TDIC).
