C Entertainment!

My fashion insider Yousef Al-Taher has sent me these photos of Taylor Momsen, John Galliano's muse, during the launch of the new perfume on September 13, 2010 in Paris, France.  Whenever I see Taylor on Gossip Girl or magazines, I always get the urge to give her a makeover and chop off her ugly hair/extensions.

Skimming through my recent posts I think my blog posts are in jeopardy of turning into a love letter to Al Othman boutique. My apologize if I sound obsessive. But seriously can you blame me? Just look at these STUNNING Erdem pieces that I spotted at Al Othman the other day!! Beautiful feminine details that celebrates woman. I’m head over heel in love love LOOOOVE with whatever Erdem creates! My absolute all time favorite designer! So there. I got it out of my system. Now let's move to the facts.. Aï-ccessories

For some reason, I have only noticed the accessories collection at Aïshti boutique, the Avenues Phase II, two days ago. It could be the way merchandise is displayed or the fact that the lighting is a bit darkish?  Even though I like Aïshti I find it difficult to browse through the store, too many items squeezed in one rack, too dark, brands are scattered, and you kind of get lost. But anyhow, I spotted some really funky  accessories on display. I'm not sure who the designer is for the first featured photo, but I loved the way this cuff leather bracelet looked and how it's decorated with thin golden chains and golden rock-shaped beads. And I also found another collection of bold, fun and colorful accessories by a cult French jewelery brand called N2 , which specialises in fantasy jewellery with a retro twist, featured here below.  I wouldn't wear the earrings shown here, too teenager-ish for my taste, but they're kind of cute to look at.

Instant Gothic-Glam

I am infatuated with Atelier Minyon in general but the brand’s rings line makes me go insane! And seriously, what's more gothic-glamour-y than wearing a load of diamond encrusted skull rings?! Certainly a quirky cool addition to my so-called jewelry collection.  All together now: “ I want be a billionaire so frickin' baaaad … I want to be on the cover of Forbes Magazine.. Smiling next to Oprah and the queen ”

Dear Confashion: Kuwait in the 70's

Almost 2 months ago I have posted a video on my blog about a fashion show that was held in Kuwait in the 70's.  And a couple of days back I have received this very very interesting and informative e-mail from Alex Aubry, Editor at Large for DIA Magazine and blog owner of The Polyglot , which I'd like to share with you  because it highlights a period in Gulf history that it rarely discussed.  Dear Confashion, Thank you so much for posting that video of the fashion show in Kuwait from the 1970’s . Years ago in the early 90’s when I was still in high school I came across an old issue of American Vogue , and it had pictures of the models from that fashion show in Kuwait. In the late 70’s, a group of very well known Fifth Avenue designers which included Halston , Bill Blass and Pauline Trigère , decided to stage a fashion show in Kuwait to promote American Fashion, which at the time was really coming into its own in terms of innovative design. Prior to that the American designe

Bil Arabi

Bil Arabi is not news to fashionistas in our region. I've seen a lot of girls sporting the Bil Arabi rings a couple of years back.  But I chose to write this post because I find the designer's new collection very charming, I like for example how she attached a small charm to the letter (as shown in the last photo) and how she designed the letter Meem in the first photo. Gives her rings a new spin indeed. Bil Arabi designer and photographer Nadine Kanso is famous for her 18-carat gold calligraphy, Bil Arabi , which literally translates to ‘In Arabic’ . Her collection of rings, earrings, pendants and bracelets draw on the inherent beauty and lyricism of the Arabic language, often using colloquial expressions, mixing the contemporary with the classic. I'm not sure if Bil Arabi is sold anywhere here in Kuwait.  But I do know that it's sold at S*uce in Village Mall and Dubai Mall, UAE.

The Last Louboutins

It's  theOutnet's  final week of  Christian Louboutin  and I think they've saved the best for last! Here's a sneak peek of what's arriving on theOutnet.com tomorrow... Mamamiaaa!! Studded pumps  please  be mine!!

Winter White

FashCode's upped the ante on window displays at the Avenues by revealing their latest "winter white in a park" display.  I don't think boutique and store owners pay much attention to window displays at the Avenues. They pretty much look the same with the exception of Diesel's (always creative thanks to franchising and the mother company). I think it would be cool if the Management of the Avenues run a competition for the most creative window display provided that it is done locally from scratch.

The LBD Saga

I used to hate the LDB and found it to be so dull. Actually the funny thing is for the longest time, I refused to buy or wear a dress in black for a party or a wedding. I don't know when exactly that has all changed. But now I have started growing a personal affinity towards the LBD. That timelessness appeal and the way black flatters almost any body shape, what's not to love?! I've spotted these 3 different LBDs worth checking out, I like this Behnaz Sarafpour black lace dress. The good thing is that it's on sale! Was KD 498 and now its retailed for KD 249 from Al Othman's Outlet . Or you could go for this very budget-friendly and extremely adorable silk top/mini long sleeves dress by TopShop for only KD 30! AND it has a cute baby collar in oh-so-on-trend leopard print. Check out the cool safety pin detail on this LBD from H&M ! Hmm. Triggered some ideas for a DIY project! Price tag? KD 29.99

Dear Confashion: Looking for New Boots

One of my readers has requested me to write a post on the hottest boots trends for Fall. So I  have done my research, and one trend that is dominating the boots arena this season and will be turning heads (in a good way that is!) is the hiking heels/boots and you get an extra brownie points if you pick one with shearling detail. Just imagine pairing them with maxi skirts, floral girly dresses, or skinny cargos.  My favorites here are from left to right  Tory Burch Halima ankle boots or Givenchy Tassel lace-up ankle boots or Alexander McQueen buckled leather shearling ankle boot. I’m also a sucker for Alaïa . I LOVE anything by Alaïa . So I immediately fell for Alaïa animal print ankle boots . You’ll also be seeing ample of boots with unique details, think a mix of textures leather with canvas or suede. My personal favorites are Isabel Marant Amely suede and leather boots and Giuseppe Zanotti leather and canvas boots . But if you'd rather go for classic styles that will

For Your Next Weekend Getaway

Finding a multi-brand boutique that stocks some of my favorite brands and it’s just a click (or an hour flight) away, is such a delightful discovery. I have just been introduced to Mimosa , a Bahrain-based multi-brand boutique that carries contemporary clothing and accessories brands from around the globe.  Mimosa   is the brainchild of half Bahraini and half Spanish entrepreneur Mariam Mahmood who has studied interior design and marketing but have always been passionate about  fashion. “ My dad never wanted me to study fashion but instead something more diverse to have something to fall back on just in case I change my mind, After a year of being back home in Bahrain, I realized that we lacked trendy boutiques that carried young and trendy designers, especially those from the US ”, said Mariam. And after Mariam’s successful first trip to NY fashion week in April 2006, her  first foray into retail was born. Expect a supremely well-curated array of picks from labels like Notte by Ma
