Outfit of the Day

Here's a quick Outfit of the Day post of what I wore for the Toni Maticevski's event at AlOthman Boutique the other night. Of course I went for one of the designer's pieces, a midi-skirt with a massive knotted detail, which I got from AlOthman, a pair of Gianvito Rossi's mules, a black blazer from The Row , a slip-like top by H&M , and accessoriezed it with my Delfina  Delettrez   skulls necklace and Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co.  bottle necklaces.

Event: Toni Maticevski's Trunk Show at AlOthman

Throughout my blogging and work career, I have met a lot of fashion designers and international influential people from the fashion industry. I have to say that Australian fashion designer Toni Maticevski , was one of the friendliest and most genuine I have ever met. The talented designer visited Kuwait on Wednesday 26th November to celebrate the launch of his Resort 2015 collection at AlOthman boutique . Guests of the event were also able to preview and reserve Toni Maticevski's SS2015 Ready-to-Wear collection.  First, here's a little background about the designer which I found on his website,  Maticevski was established in 1999 and it offers exquisitely designed and crafted garments in beautiful feminine shapes and fabrics displaying his attention to detail, his skill in dressing the female form, and his mastery of drape and cuts.  I first met him a day before the actual event and was really surprised by his humbleness and how approachable he was. He talked about

Outfit of the Day

I was in a monochromatic mood that day, so I chose to wear Rachel Zoe's grid patterned silky dress with a ruffled hem which I got from AlOthman boutique but you can also buy it online here . I paired it with a polka dots scarf from Zara , and my good ol' Charlotte Olympia velvet kitten flats.

Unwrapping Net-a-Porter's Holiday Kit

If you've been following me on instagram ( @confashions ), you have probably seen my post about Net-A-Porter's surprise package that was delivered to me.  I received a limited-edition beauty set called The Holiday Kit . It contains 14 selected luxury travel and full-sized makeup, haircare, bath, body, and skincare products. I didn't want to post about it immediately because I wasted to have sometime to try out the products and give a brief review of each item. Unfortunately, as I checked their site today, the kit is already sold out! BUT! You will find the products sold separately if interested.  Tata Harper's Rejuvenating Serum (15ml/0.5oz.) Erno Laszlo's soothing Phelityl Pre-Cleansing Oil and Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar: I haven't tried the cleansing oil yet but I did try the soap bar only and felt it deeply cleansed my skin, the only drawback is that it can get a little bit messy in the bathroom because of its dark texture Verso's Retinol 8

Curating your own unique style is an art form, and the first tip to achieve that is looking for pieces of clothes or accessories, NOT featured or heavily promoted by glossies offline and online, that's why you need to check out  Future Boheme , a Kuwait-based online shopping site that offers a collection of modern hand crafted items showcasing bohemian inspired bags, jewelry and accessories. Net-a-Porter to launch J Brand Collaboration with Designer Simone Rocha

One collaboration I'm so looking forward to this month is the  J Brand x Simone Rocha  c apsule collection, set to be released sometime in December 2014. Having previously collaborated with a host of internationally renowned designers such as the New York women’s wear duo Proenza Schouler and London’s brightest stars including Christopher Kane , J Brand is as known for supporting emerging design talent as it is for its denim. Since graduating with an MA in Fashion Design from the prestigious Central St Martins, Simone Rocha has instantaneously become a highlight of the London Fashion Week schedule, and was honored with the British Fashion Council’s Emerging Women’s wear Designer award for 2013. My favorite piece of the collaboration is the pink denim jacket with cute off-the-shoulders ruffles. The perfect piece to kick-start shopping for Resort, would;t you say?

Outfit of the Day

It's dress-down Friday!!! It's the day we sleep in, catch up on our hobbies (or not), spend quality time with the family, and eat like there's no tomorrow! So I decided to go for my Vyshyvanka by Vita Kin embroidered caftan, it's by a new and hip Ukrainian designer, whom I contacted via whatsapp to place my order. It's amazing what a one post on instagram can generate so much profit all over the world. The designer has become so famous that last August 2014, the wife of Ukrainian president was featured on the cover of Elle magazine dressed in  Vyshyvanka by Vita Kin ! I chose to pair my comfy caftan with Stuart Weitzman gladiator sandals, and minimal accessories. Super comfy day!  Chocolate cake anyone??

What's New at Celine

It's always a must to pass by Celine's boutique at Prestige in the Grand Avenue, even if I have nothing in mind (or pocket) to buy. As cliche as my next statement may sound, but I really really love Celine! It's simply not the kind of brand that screams in the face of people that it is a designer jacket/bag/shoe on every inch of its exterior. This is quiet sophistication on its own, and let's not start talking about the high quality craftsmanship as I don't want to sound like a broken record. So I leave you now with some Celine's eye candy for Fall 2014.

Krikor Jabotian's Amal Collection

"The hope we secretly carry is the most sincere definition of who we are." That's how Beirut-based designer  Krikor Jabotian  described his Fall 2014 collection, one of the most stunning couture evening gowns designs I have seen. I've known  Krikor   for quite sometime, and let me tell you this, he has a special quality that I find rare in emerging talents from our region. He's genuine. Yes, you read that right, a simple quality that is a rare breed in our back-stabbing, shallow, materialistic fashion industry. He hasn't changed over the years, which make him a gem on the personal and professional level, and I hope that would never change.  Krikor 's  Amal (or Hope) collection excels at high-drama cocktail dresses and evening gowns with experimental volumes and proportion. Feminine details in the form of lace, feathers, and floral work to balance the architectural yet soft lines, and they’ve helped put his evening looks on our the wish list of many

The Brand New Boutique 4

I have finally managed to visit Boutique 4 after it's new facelift. As expected, the selection of clothes and accessories did not disappoint. There was nothing "too trendy" here.  It was all very original and therefore would always stand the test of time...no matter what you buy, well at least for most of the selection in store. I have to admit though, the entrance was a bit confusing for me. I stood there in front of the giant knob-less metal wall wondering how to get it, thankfully one of the sales guys saw me and asked me to simply push the wall to get in, that was cool! I like that the space was not drastically changed. The space is well thought-out and organized but not excessively designed or controlled like some other boutiques, which I liked. The lights however needed to be slightly (teeny tiny) dimmed. Now back to the selection, I loved their new accessories especially Olympia le-tan , who offered something different, book clutches but in leather not fabric
