In My Closet: 1309

One of the biggest thrills about Caftans season isn’t just the launch of new caftans by “big” names that everyone knows and loves. Caftans season is a chance to scout out the latest and greatest in emerging talents. This season was no exception, I have been introduced to so many new local and regional brands and young talents that I never knew existed. Qatari-based brand 1309 was launched last year, but because I had already stocked up on caftans before the launch of their debut collection, I didn't get the chance to buy from their collection. This year however, I made it my mission to order since I knew that their design aesthetics would surely mean presenting something that won't disappoint, and guess what? They did meet and exceed my expectations. I think that 1309 is really having a moment. It managed to create pieces that well-dressed girls everywhere are starting to talk about. This season I fell in love with their Arabic calligraphy embroidered pie...

Outfit of the Day

It seems that monochrome is my mantra these days. I paired my V-neck shirt by Peter Pilotto from AlOthman Fashion with one of my favorite purchases of the summer season, black slim pants with a skirt overlay and an oversized knotted detail by Joseph . My oldie but a goodie shark tooth necklace from Givenchy , and finished the look with a pair of Chanel slingbacks.

Ballerina Girl

Fashion has always inspired dance-wear and dance has always inspired fashion. Take for example District Design's drama caftan, which you can see a glimpse of in this photo, the waves at the lower part of their caftan is created by layers upon layers of fabric, quite similar to ballerina's tutu skirt. So it felt completely fit to pair my Miu Miu satin ballet/Punk flats with the caftan. The result was beautiful! Wouldn't you say? You can buy them online here .

Outfit of the Day

Monochrome and minimal. For my outfit of the day, I chose a loose top with oversied high-neck by the talented Mr. Maticevski from AlOthman Boutique . I simply paired the top with my J Brand Jeans, and a pair of flat mules by Tibi .

Outfit of the Day

I’ve had this photo taken and this post in the works for weeks and finally posting it today! Seriously, took me long enough. Anyhow, I have a thing for fringed skirts. So when I found the perfect one which I didn't need to splurge on, all thank to Zara , I have decided to pair it with my Masterpeace Kimono-inspired top from AlOthman Boutique, and many other casual pieces, like a sweatshirt, a knitted top, and a dress. The options were endless! I tied the look together with a pair of my my black suede and pearl heels by Nicholas Kirkwood .

Outfit of the Day

I'm obsessed with Mira Mikati's eye-catching, quirky cool and playful designs. The cartoons, vibrant graphics, and oversized emoji characters attached to its casual chic pieces makes Mira Mikati the go-to brand for weekend dressing. I got this shirt from AlOthman Boutique .

Outfit of the Day

You can never go wrong with a torn distressed denim jacket, or maybe you can if worn with Jane-Fonda-Style-leotard!, to me, this denim jacket ups the cool ante of any of our my outfits, I got it a couple of years back from Paper Denim . I took this photo when the weather was cooler earlier in the year obviously, and I just got the chance to post about this casual and comfy outfit. I paired my denim jacket with my GAP khaki pants (I truly believe the GAP has the best and most flattering denim pants!), a grey knitted top from J crew , and a pair of soon-to-be Gucci 's worn and torn fur-lined loafers . And here's a close up of how I decorated my denim jacket just to give it a funky twist. A Robot! How lucky am I to get this cute little robot pin as a gift from my dearest friend! According to her, the manufacturer of the pin takes inspiration from the precision and quality of military embroideries. It's such a small but very precious gift.

Outfit of the Day

I really need to work on my outfit of the day posts. The photography is really bad! I'm posting them anyway as a form of my so-called documentation and reference. Here I'm wearing my all-time favorite cropped jeans from TopShop , by the way I truly believe that Topshop and Zara have the best jeans for my body type, and a pair of Ports 1961  bow sneakers , my Sea military jacket covered in navy 3D lace florals, my TopShop knitted top, and my   Ralph Lauren 'Ricky' Tumbled Bucket Bag.

Outfit of the Day

Found this photo on my mobile which I took during the festive holidays. It was when I decided to go for a festive look in my vintage Kenzo jacket. I probably bought this piece at least 10 or 12 years ago when Kenzo had a branch in Salhiya Complex. I fell in love with it's kimono like sleeves and its embroidered detail. The quality was just impeccable, they rarely make them like this nowadays. It's definitely a keeper!

Hands down! Rabih Kayrouz is the BEST womenswear Lebanese designer so far. I got this pinstriped blazer with golden pomegranate-shaped cuff links from AlOthman Boutique. The blazer has diagonal side slits which gives the blazer an unexpected, yet flattering, shape. I paired it with my loose-fit patch-work jeans, which I bought from Berlin from a place called Manila Grace . So why does Rabih hold this title in my fashion book? First off, you can never categorize his designs as the typical Lebanese designs, you would never see models on the runways dressed in lace gowns covered in beads and sequins season after season. His approach in design, minimalism chic, is never ever boring! His designs have the power to stand the test of time with such grace and high impact. I have personally met Rabih Kayrouz and found him to be so down to earth and easy to talk to, a rare quality these days. And last but not least, he gives back to his community in such a way that I don't think any o...

Outfit of the Day

This 10 Crosby Derek Lam top felt like wearing a blankie, I wish its sleeves were longer, I would have worn it a zillion time in the cold weather. I loved the fact that it had two different plaid patterns and an asymmetrical hemline to give the illusion of an elongated figure, which I desperately need! I paired it with one of my favorite TopShop pants. They're covered with velvety polkadots and I've had them for at least 4 or 5 years! In spite of their color, they go well with most of the things I have in my closet. They're a keeper for sure! I finished the look with a pair of Gucci's fur-lined slippers, which have become my go-to shoes this season, with and without socks!

Outfit of the Day

Oh my! November flew by. I just realized that I posted one post only during the month of November! Truly a first since I first started blogging in 2007! And here I am, dusting off my favorite place in cyber space, and I couldn’t be happier! Yes, the past month have been busy with family and work, but I have to admit, it felt good to step back and slow down. It gave me a chance to do the things that I always wanted to do for myself and home but couldn't, and at the same time, I have to admit that I missed this place, and all of you. So let's see how many posts I can manage to post on my blog during the month of December.  Let's start with an  Outfit of the Day  post. I call this outfit my evening wear uniform of the season. I wore it at least 4 times this season and I'm not ashamed to wear it again!  These  Rosie Assoulin  green silk-faille trousers worn under the label's open-front dress were very comfortable to wear and dance in. Plus it's so ref...

Outfit of the Day

Man I need to brush-up on my photography skills! Until then, here's a quick outfit of the day post. I took this one while visiting Harvey Nichols Kuwait and I fell in love with this box cross bag by Edie Parker. I was wearing my cropped denim pants by TopShop , Gucci ' Princeton ' fur lined loafers , and Co flared top from AlOthman .

Outfit of the Day

I must apologize for the radio silence! I haven't posted in quite sometime. Having a full-time job and raising kids ain't easy! So I'm glad I managed to steal some time off to update my beloved blog. I'm more active on instagram ( @confashions ) nowadays I guess! Anyhow, here's a quick outfit of the day post. I took this photo right after work. I was wearing a Roksanda flared short-sleeves jacket, decorated it with a tiny ecru alphabet brooch, paired the jacket with Roksanda's striped top, TopShop's cropped blue pants, and Giambattista Valli's embellished pointy flats from AlOthman Boutique .

Outfit of the Day

Yup. I'm still wearing my caftans, mainly for our Friday's family gatherings. this week chose to wear my Kristella kaftan by C&M , the lower line for Australian brand CAMILLA AND MARC . I'm not sure if it's visible in this photo but if you look closely at the sleeves, you'll notice this huge knotted detail which I found unique and adds a modern detail to the basic striped Moroccan-inspired oversized silhouette. I paired it with my J. crew woven straw flats and layered beaded necklaces.

Outfit of the Day

Boxy crochet fringed top from Melange Boutique paired with loose black culottes from TopShop , the perfect combination for a bloated-and-need-comfy-clothes kind of day. Finished the look with pointy flat slides and multi-layered necklaces.

Outfit of the Day

I love David Szeto . No one can argue the mastery of his creativity in presenting classic practical pieces in a modern and unique way and his talent of using ruched details in his designs. I remember I bought my first David Szeto piece maybe 8 years ago from AlOthman . It was a blush-pink ruched top and I still have it treasured in my closet! Obviously 2-years rule does not apply to this piece (the 2-years rule is to get rid of clothes that you haven't worn in two years). I must wear it more often.. The reason why I mentioned David Szeto is because last season I bought these volume structured-like shorts by the Canadian-born/Paris-based designer. They were (and still are) my summer staple. The other day I paired them with a plain white Clover Canyon top with golden foil-like details (so unlike Clover Canyon , right?!), and my Liberty London's Iphis Marlborough tote bag.

Outfit of the Day

I was scanning through AlOthman Boutique when my dear friend pointed out that my outfit colors match those of the displayed hats, which in blogesphere world it translates to "Hey! Here is the perfect setting to take a snap of my OOTD!!". I was wearing a bohemian chic dress by a brand called Carolina K , which I bought from Melange boutique , located at Burj Jassim. You can also find it online here , and paired it with my Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem gladiator sandals. The beauty of these gladiator sandals is that they transform in a snap from a low, casual style to a tall, boot-like silhouette. Two looks for the price of one!And finally topped the look off with Federica Moretti handmade hat.

Outfit of the day

I love Eid ! I really do! I feel a little sad when I hear people say, " Who celebrates Eid now a days?! " Or " Eid is for kids ", or " Who still buys an Eid Outfit?! ". I do! I love the quality time spent with the family, I love how everyone looks clean and well-dressed, I love catching up with cousins I haven't seen for months! Being more charitable, and who doesn't love the Eiddiya (cash that gets distributed as gifts to close relatives)?! Oh well... I'm sharing with you here my Eid Outfit, I chose to wear a 60's inspired swing coat and a trapeze dress by Giamba , taking inspiration from the legendary Jackie O (truth is I needed something comfy after Ramadan's caftans!!), and paired it with Giambattista Valli embellished heels, and finally my Loro Piana mini pouch in pink ostrich leather.

Outfit of the Day

If this light-weight blue cotton dress came in other colors, I would probably fall into the trap of buying every color version of it! A Major fashion faux pas I know, but this is the kind of summer dress that I'd like to wear when traveling or just simply wear for comfortable-chic outings. I got this Cecilie Copenhagen dress made using their signature Keffiyeh print fabric online , and It's so perfect for Ramadan too! I paired it with my Nicholas Kirkwood gladiator sandals. These sandals are part of a collaboration with designer Erdem . These croc-embossed gladiator sandal can be transformed from a low, casual style to a tall, boot-like silhouette in a snap! So basically I'm getting two looks for the price of one! Genius!
