Mary Katrantzou x Topshop Collection Hits Kuwait

And opposite to Marni for H&M's window display on the avenues, we have the less-hyped designer collaberation Mary Katrantzou x Topshop, which I have intagramed about (@confashions) over the weekend. Mary Katrantzou is one of the hottest young designers around thanks to her innovative use of  3D effect patterns and floral prints. I didn't go on the day of the launch so I didn't get to see the lampshade dress, not sure if it was even stocked in Kuwait. But according to my sources, the store did not have a large number of items in stock, except for the leggings and the floral tees shown below. So we all agree that the collection was nice, but I was kind of surprised by the prices! Let's take The blue printed pants for example, shown below, in store it was priced at KD 95! I checked Topshop's site online and it was priced for £130, which is around KD 57... pretty high markup...

I saw some of the pieces over the weekend, and was disappointed by the quality of the fabric. I was really looking forward for this collection. To be honest 95 KD, even if it's a designer collaboration, is a bit much for mass produced Topshop.

I couldn't agree more... I would spend max KD40 on a pair of high-street pants... KD 95 is just a rip-off!

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
