I'm always excited to see our region's big talents take it to the next level. I've just got an e-mail introducing me to Maison Rabih Kayrouz's first ready-to-wear A/W 2012 show, which was held last week in Paris. Models strutted in the Boulevard Raspail Atelier to the remixed version of the famous Bendaly's song "Do You Love Me". I read on 248am sometime ago that it was actually videotaped in Kuwait. The song was remixed by Frédéric Sanchez, fashion's favorite music guru who collaborated on runway music for many high profile fashion houses including Prada, Hermes, Valentino, and Marc Jacobs to name a few.
Rabih Kayrouz presented two extremes to his silhouettes. They were either alternately as light as a breath or had a structured architecture to them. Think Poplin blouses whose sides overlap, without ever being sewn. I loved the minimal brass and leather accessories he has used on waists and arms to accentuate the beauty of the dresses. I can't wait to see them up close and personal.
