Exclusive: Reed Krakoff Launches Today on Net-a-Porter

NET-A-PORTER.COM is delighted to introduce the Reed Krakoff Collection for fall 2010 today. After more than 20 years in the fashion industry, Reed Krakoff has created his own comprehensive line of beautifully made ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, sunglasses and jewelry.

The collection articulates the notion of American sportswear with a practical utility and modern take on craftsmanship that redefines luxury. It reflects an inspired juxtaposition of contrasting elements—subtle and confident, industrial and poetic, tailored and fluid—expressing a strong and sensual femininity. Outerwear, especially the iconic military coat, sleek leather skirts and messenger bags in a rich mix of materials are slated to become your new uniform.

“I’m designing for an intelligent, confident woman who has her own sense of understated style and an appreciation for the way everything looks, feels and performs," says Krakoff. “She has a timeless look, preferring pieces that subtly underscore her individual strength and character.”

Holli Rogers, NET-A-PORTER’s Buying Director says: “Reed Krakoff’s collection of military meets minimalism proves his ability to simplify the trends and identify a perfect look. His way of contrasting feminine silhouettes with menswear-inspired tailoring exudes a fluid, subtle richness.”

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
