My Birkin... My Pride & Joy

Birkin... Birkin.. Birkin... you mesmerize me.. I'm so addicted to yoooooou.

sitting galmorously in my closet is my hard earned blue Hermes Birkin Bag. To own it is like the ultimate fashionista dream. I look at it lovingly and think to myself "daaaamn! you are one hell of a lucky girl! I shall protect you from the evil eye 'till the day I die". My friend asked me once why am I so obsessed with my Birkin. I can list 100 reasons why. But just to be short & sweet, it's exclusive, expensive (I saw a Birkin in vogue with diamonds on it's hardware. How much do you think it costs?), it's hand crafted, it takes 2 whole weeks of dedication to produce one, and it's THE bag everyone in the fashion world admires.

During a recent visit to The Comfort Shoe at Mariam Complex, I came across a Birkin look alike (shown in the pictures above). I have to admit, from afar the bag actually looked good. So I went in to check it out. And THANK GOD the quality of the bag was not that great. They were selling the bag for KD 175 (it used to be KD 250 before the sale) and they had it in blue, pale blue, and bright pink. So if you have no patience to wait (heck, we all don't!) and if you can't get your hands on the real deal, then you might be interested to settle for it (would I? Nope. But just felt like sharing it).

i know... it is a timeless peice :)

the kuwaiti magazine, THOUQ, had a page about the birkin bag in their last issue, and they showed many look-alike's... some of them are prettier than the origional :p

the article is fascinating , can't get myself to put down my comment , the birkin is really worth it no matter what ugly , pretty heavy and classic it is .. the point is rearly you find someone who gonna wear it while your out and about somewhere here in Kuwait or around the world either than victoria Beckham , my friends find me silly cuz i own one !

Aww confashion! I loved your tidbit about your birkin, It is a timeless piece and is out to impress, and I'm sure your blue one is fab! If I'm going to get a birkin I'd get one in Orange, So Inshalla I'm saving up for one on the side, LOL! The Birkin fund! I call it.
The trick is to actually find one!!

Saks In Bahrain

I went to Saks Fifth Avenue store in Bahrain. The two-level store is located in City Centre Mall and has a collection of American and international clothes designers for Men and Women as well as jewelry, accessories, handbags, fragrances, cosmetics, intimate apparel, bridal, and children's apparel. However, I was slightly disappointed by the small selection, maybe because all items were on sale? Or the number and variety of brands were limited? Anyhow, my favourite section at Saks - Bahrain was Saks's world-famous 10022-SHOE salon (shown in the photo below). It had the same look & feel of the NY's shoe salon but of course not the same space. The Shoe Salon had really nice selection and they were all on sale! I have been told by Saks Sales Assistant that they will be hosting numerous special events throughout the year such as fashion shows and personal appearances by designers. Event: Villa Moda Movenpick Luxury Sale

The Villa Moda Movenpick Luxury Sale is an event all savvy shoppers and bargain hunters look forward to as it's a chance to get the best deals from the most wanted designer labels. The sale will showcase clothes and accessories from Spring/Summer 2008 collection and some going back to Fall 2007 collection (and even older).
