Event: STARCH Your Summer

First of all, it is my greatest pleasure to introduce you to my first contributing writer and guest blogger all the way from Beirut, the city of arts, culture, great food, and creative minds. My lovely Beirut Blogger goes by the name Stella Walker, and she will be covering some interesting fashion and life-style related events and what's hip and happening in Beirut.

Stella recently attended Beirut Art Center where they were showing the latest show from BAC design, a program of exhibitions dedicated to promoting creative products made by Beirut-based designers. One of the exhibitions on display was titled STARCH your summer, which is an exhibition by STARCH designers from 2008-2009-2010. where they showcased their latest design products with using STARCH brand codes. A variety of items were presented ranging from fashion clothing, to accessories and interior products carrying the signature style of each designer. Participating designers are: Ghita Abi Hanna, Najla el Zein, Racha Abbas, Deena Wassef, Nadine Mneimneh, Rana Mikdashi, Rayya Morcos, Ronald Abdallah, Rami Kadi, Lara Khoury and Missak HajiAvedikian. I have featured some of them here, here, here, and here.

The exhibition will be on view until 11th June 2011. So if you're vacationing in Beirut anytime soon, make sure to check it out.

Does the above top look familiar?
These are really cool by the way, at first I thought they were laundry bags but they're actually shirts, like the one designer Rayya Morcos, who currently works at Maison Rabih Kayrouz as a senior designer, is wearing in the photo below.

Installation created by Najla el Zein.

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
