Art & Patronage

If you love art or want to buy a house warming gift to someone who appreciates art, or simply you want a new coffee table book, then get this book: Art & Patronage: The Middle East. I spotted it at Dar Al Funoon the other day (KD 25) and it basically captures the new wave of art patronage in the Middle East. Profiling fifty leading art collectors, brokers, and patrons in our region.  Very informative and interesting read.

The above photo is an illustration of how Abu Dhabi's Guggenheim will look like. AMAZING!

The above photo was taken during an exhibition titled Fluidity & Design in 2010 at the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research that was held in Bahrain showcasing works by Zaha Hadid, one of the world's greatest architects.

In the above photo a mixed media commissioned and produced by the Sharjah Biennal 2007. Below are some photos of STUNNING pieces owned by the region's top art collectors.

In love with the wall!

Have to agree that's a fabulous book. So wonderful to see art being so appreciated. You could literally go to a different exhibit daily here in Kuwait. Bravo!

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Marie Clair - Kuwait is in Arabic of course. Sephora Opening Soon At The Avenues II

Beauty Junkies rejoice! The famous retailer of perfumes and cosmetics and the leading beauty chain in Europe and US, Sephora , will be opening soon at The Avenues Phase II. Personally, I like Sephora not only because of its tempting cosmetic selection, but mainly because I don't feel pressured by sales associates to buy stuff that I don't really need. I can actually touch and try the products without having the sales associate stalking me around and giving me some unnecessary comments about my skin/make-up. I think Sephora will make it big here if it sells its high-end cosmetics which are unavailable at other beauty stores/pharmacies in Kuwait. Does anyone have any product recommendations or favorites?
