BREAKING NEWS: Istithmar Wins Barneys Battle‎

YES!! Fashionistas in this region, here's a reason for you to celebrate (and start saving money big time!). We will be all shopping at Barneys Dubai soon. Yup, Dubai's Istithmar has won the bidding for Barneys New York following the decision Thursday by the Japanese Company to drop out. Istithmar is paying the group which owns Barneys, a hefty $942.3 million in the all-cash deal. If you have been following this bidding battle on my blog, you'd recall that the initial deal with Barneys NY was in June for $825 million, but then the Japanese company stepped in and a bidding battle started.

I would like to congratulate Istithmar for their win. Guys, if you're reading this, I admire your persistence. You really made me feel proud. So what's your future plans? Harvey Nichols maybe?

Alright, alright so Barneys is coming to Dubai after all!I feel so over the moon for Haya & co - really I do.
Now if only they would clamp down on havala, human trafficking, child jockeying and introduce minimum wages, press freedom and parliamentary democracy in Dubai life will at last come a full circle for Souk Dubai.

A Bergdorf Goodman in Kuwait or a Baladiya that's actually interested in keeping Kuwait neat and tidy?

An Auchan hypermarket in Al Rai or government hospitals that come close to the French health service?

A Galeries Lafayette in Salmiya or well maintained public parks and gardens downtown.

A Colette boutique at the Avenues or a Barnes & Nobles at the Avenues?

More American casual diners in Kuwait City or more libraries, museums and art galleries across Kuwait??

Well.. I don't think there is a city/country in the world which does not have its flaws. But I try to make the best of some situations. That's what keeps us moving forward or at least possitive.

I'd like to have them all. That would be something. My Euphoria :)

Chanel Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection

I can't remember if I shared my views about Chanel's Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection on my blog or not, but I thought I'd share with you some photos of the pieces on display now at Chanel Boutique in Kuwait, Prestige in the Avenues and Salhiya Complex. I wasn't too crazy about the clothes. However, I did like some of the bags which had pompoms and tassels on them, as well as the gigantic pearl clutch. I also loved the Moroccan-inspired pointy flats and the silver jewelry adorned with coins and crescents. Of course the shoes were sold out in my size and I wasn't so crazy about the patterned ones. I LOVED the flap bag with Pom Poms, but it was above my budget. Overall the collection felt more Moroccan than Dubai-an. I wish if they have incorporate more of the our gulf region's culture into the designs. Oh And I added to this post photos of Chanel's milk carton shaped python clutch bag embellished with a CC signature. They're not part of the Dubai colle

Brands at Bahrain's Alothman

Remember my previous post on the new Alothman store ? I got an interesting question by e-mail from few of my readers, they were inquiring about the brands carried by Alothman at Bahrain , so I've done my homework, and here are they: ALEXANDER WANG AZZARO BADGLEY MISCHKA BALMAIN BEHNAZ SARAFPOUR BILL BLASS CAROLINA HERRERA DAVID SZETO DEREK LAM DEVI KROELL ELIE SAAB ERDEM GIAMBATTISTA VALLI GILES LELA ROSE MALANDRINO MARIOS SCHWAB NAEEM KHAN OSCAR DE LA RENTA PETER SOM PROENZA SCHOULER REEM ACRA RUPERT SANDERSON And..THE ROW Hmm, I guess I covered them all. Update: I have just been notified by Alothman that there was a slight misunderstanding on the brands carried by Alothman at Bahrain. The list have been updated and corrected as shown above. Sorry guys about that.
