Krikor Jabotian... A Name to Remember

One of the reasons why I set up this blog five years ago, was to discover innovative designs by young and talented fashion designers from our region and celebrate their creative force and ability to explore new ideas and push boundaries. Lebanese designer Krikor Jabotian blindly falls into this category.

Even though Krikor Jabotian is quite popular and has been in the fashion scene since 2008, when he presented his first collection Une noce funebre in Dubai Fashion Week, he excelled at designing feminine high-drama evening gowns with experimental details and a mix of sharp architectural lines and soft embellishments. I just recently got introduced to him, and I must add that he is so sweet and very down to earth. So how did this amazing talent start?

In 2005, at the age of 18, Jabotian joined ESMOD Beirut, to initiate his studies. He graduated at the age of 21 and joined Elie Saab's creative department team, where he worked for seven months.

In 2008, Krikor showcased his "Les fleurs bleues" collection at Faraya Mzaar, along with three other young Lebanese designers, in collaboration with Maison Rabih Kayrouz and Faraya Mzaar. He then got selected to showcase his collections at Starch boutique in Beirut.

At the age of 23, Jabotian set up his first atelier in Abdul Wahab Al Inglizi's street in Beirut, which served him for a while to display his Au gre d'une brise and previous collections. However, shortly after that, Atelier Krikor Jabotian moved to Tabariss and opened fervently its doors, where he currently works.

Along with Rabih Kayrouz, Krikor Jabotian has officially become one of my two favorite Lebanese designers.

Saks In Bahrain

I went to Saks Fifth Avenue store in Bahrain. The two-level store is located in City Centre Mall and has a collection of American and international clothes designers for Men and Women as well as jewelry, accessories, handbags, fragrances, cosmetics, intimate apparel, bridal, and children's apparel. However, I was slightly disappointed by the small selection, maybe because all items were on sale? Or the number and variety of brands were limited? Anyhow, my favourite section at Saks - Bahrain was Saks's world-famous 10022-SHOE salon (shown in the photo below). It had the same look & feel of the NY's shoe salon but of course not the same space. The Shoe Salon had really nice selection and they were all on sale! I have been told by Saks Sales Assistant that they will be hosting numerous special events throughout the year such as fashion shows and personal appearances by designers. Now that's something I'd be interested in! In addition, they currently offer in-st
