Event: Gucci's Live Streaming Event

Last week I was invited to attend the exclusive live streaming of Gucci's A/W 2012 Womenswear runway show live form the Milan Fashion Week. The event was held at FA Gallery , which I though was perfect since the ambiance of the gallery is very sleek and minimal. It sort of complemented the items on display, forcing the eyes to observe the beautiful details of the clothes and accessories shown. Gucci's team displayed a selection on the brand's S/S 2012 collection throughout the gallery. And on the other side of the gallery, guests were seated to watch the live streamed show projected on the huge wall. For A/W 2012-2013, Gucci mixed dark glamor with modern-day romanticism. Think floral prints blossoming in the jacquard designs, long dreamy velvety dresses, short harness jackets, and equestrian-style pants in palettes of black, purple, forest greens and maroons. According to the Gucci team, you can pre-order any A/W 2012/2013 item shown by visiting the brand...

Curb Your Addiction?!

First was the shoes post , and now comes the bags post. And thanks to my sister's photos, which she has taken during her mini vacay, now I'm tempted to add more items on my "to-buy" S/S list. I'm trying my best to curb my bags and shoes addiction... oh well.. what can I say.. sometimes your best isn't good enough. The block-colour Proenza Schouler PS11 classic shoulder bag (yellow or neutral??)? Mary Katrantzou for Longchamp tote? or Prada's "on-fire" clutches? Decisions decisions... Mary Katrantzou for Longchamp tote was spotted at Colette boutique in Paris... I spy some Murakami goodies too! Prada's vrooom vrooom clutches! Heart!

Check out this video which will be presented to the press later today at the Nina Ricci Autumn/Winter 2013 show, Nina Ricci's designer Peter Copping asked Dutch fashion photographer duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin to shed a new light on his S/S 2012 Collection. Directed by Inez & Vinoodh, super model Raquel Zimmermann hypnotizes us, and engrosses us in her breathless ethereal trance.

Flavor of the Day: i.skull.u

Skulls with some serious attitude! I really like the one with the Prada sunglasses shown on the right. This is part of Dubai-based brand Sugar Vintage's A/W 2013 collection.

Shop MAC, Cook MAC

The other day I have received by mail some samples of MAC's Shop MAC, Cook MAC collection for Spring 2012. I also got a copy of their seasonal beauty lookbook filled with the latest beauty trends, beauty tips, and how to achieve the runway look as shown in some of New York, Paris, London, and Milan's biggest designer fashion shows. It gave me some ideas to update my look and experiment with new beauty trends. The samples, beautifully packaged in clashing colors, included a lipstick, an Eyeshadow Quad, and an orangish lip color/balm. Now honestly speaking, I wasn't a fan of the lip color/balm as I don't like fruity smelling products. But that's just me. For some reason fruity smells give me a headache. But that rich red-blue lipstick, pictured below and called Runaway Red , has got to be one of the best lipsticks I have seen MAC put out for a limited collection in a long time! I immediately fell in love with it. It had that satiny finish and the berry shade ...

Marching in Style

I love it when my family and friends get into the " confashions " mood and start sending me photos for my blog. My sweet sister was in Paris and London recently and bribed sent me a bunch of mouthwatering and heart-aching photos of clothes, shoes, and accessories which made me squeal with excitement! I still hyperventilate whenever I see shoes by Nicholas Kirkwood , especially the ones designed for Peter Pilotto's S/S 2012 runway show (first photo). Just look at these heeled sandals with their beaded flower fronts, florescent bits and heels made of colored perspex... siiiigh! Perfection! I don't think I'll ever get over their luster. Classy & Elegant

Back in March 2011 I have f irst featured Saudi designer Razan Alazzouni , one of our region’s talented and brightest fashion designers, on my blog here . And since then I have been keeping an eye on her girly and whimsical collections season after season. Her work has always shown great promise of what is to come, an attribute that will serve her well for a long time to come. And when I have received an email from Razan informing me of the debut of her A/W 2012 collection a few weeks ago. I knew that I won't be disappointed. The collection managed to capture pure class and elegance, Razan's signature sensibility. And this time she has used hand embroidery technique, which added an interesting dimension to the prettily designed evening gowns and cocktail dresses.  You can view more of Razan's Alazzouni's A/W 2012 lookbook by clicking here .

Just Like Equipment...

Spotted this silk button-down shirt at Massimo Dutti for KD 24. It reminded me of Equipment's bright coral red silk shirt with a a contrasting fucshia pink collar. My vote goes to  Equipment's   version of course simply because the finishing looks ten times nicer.

News: Muscat Fashion Week 2012

The second Muscat Fashion Week wrapped up last week at Riyam Park as designers from Oman and neighboring countries presented their takes on the Arab woman 2012. Seema Sangra, one of the journalists covering Muscat Fashion Week was kind enough to share with me these photos taken during this year's event showcasing the creativity and the diversity of Middle-Eastern and South Asian fashion designers who participated in MFW, such as Kubra Al Qaseer ,  Ayesha Depala , Nawal Al Hooti , Amina Al Jassim , and Hanaa Al-Wahaibi to name a few. Seema also provided me with a brief description of some of the featured designers and their work. Scroll down to read what more on Seema's guest post. Colorful and traditional designs by Amina Al Jassim , a Saudi Arabian fashion designer of haute couture and jellabiyas who presented her line during the first day of Muscat Fashion Week.
