Zoran Dobric, a Serbian born designer based in Toronto, Canada, is launching his caftan collection for the first time in the Middle East on August 18 at the ‘I Love Souk’ store. The collection features hand-painted clothes by the designer and a line of caftans designed exclusively for the ‘I Love Souk’ store.
Dobric has been educated at Europe’s leading fashion design school, Instituto Marangoni in Milan. His designs are currently available in Canada, USA and China. Zoran Dobric’s designs are unique and artistic. The main focus of the collection is fabric as an art form. The fabrics are hand created by painting, screen-printing, shibori pleating, batiking, appliqué and hand embroidery.
Coinciding with the launch by Zoran Dobric is the Sheikh Majed Al Sabah’s own collection of the traditional Abaya. Sheikh Majed is launching a collection called ‘3 baya’ for her, a selection of modernized caftans and traditional women’s perfumes.
Both the Zoran Dobric and ‘3baya’ collections are available at the Al Sabah Art and Design Gallery located adjacent to the Al Corniche Club on Arabian Gulf Road, Shaab. This exhibition is open to the public from Tuesday August 18, 2009 at noon.
