To say that I was amazed by the Japanese Pottery Exhibition at the Amricani Cultural Centre would be an understatement. And I'm not referring to the exhibition only, but the entire ambiance! The installation of the exhibition? The serenity of the place? The mix of old architecture with modern interior? I honestly felt that I was visiting a renowned museum somewhere abroad! I felt proud! Finally an official cultural hub. A place that I can take people who are visiting Kuwait to, other than the usual suspects.
Now back to the beautiful exhibition, it is held to mark the 50th anniversary for the establishment of Japan-Kuwait diplomatic relations. And it's showcasing the pottery work of 35 Japanese artists active in seven major sites in Japan. Some carry on long traditions of pottery production while others seeking to create individualistic works exploring new forms. Of course, it goes without saying that I was introduced to the art of pottery in its most pristine form and quality.
The exhibition is on till 27th January 201 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the at Amricani Cultural Center (ACC), Gulf Road, Kuwait City. Fridays and Saturdays from 2pm to 7pm.
