An ode to Indian Beauty

Yousef Al-Taher has graciously shared with us his favorite moments during Paris Haute Couture Week, but now it’s time to shift our focus from Paris to Delhi, where six day long annual Pearls Delhi Couture Week has begun a few days ago, showcasing the collections of well-known designers like Manish Malhotra and JJ Valaya.

And since M.A.C is the official Hair and Makeup sponsor of Pearl’s Delhi Couture Week, you will get insight on the latest beauty trends highlighted by their top-tier makeup artists headed by Mickey Contractor, MAC Director of Makeup Artist and Vimi Joshi, M.A.C Senior Artist.

So let’s start with Manish Malhotra’s show, how this look relates to M.A.C's AW10 trends? “This look is Bollywood glamour meets Spanish flamenco”.  Expressed Vimi. “If M.A.C’s satin eye trend married the red velvet trend, this look would be their creative collaboration, it’s eyes and lips”.
So what M.A.C products were used to create that glamorous look?
Skin: Fix+ and Studio moisture cream
Face: Studio sculpt foundation and Studio finish concealer
Eye: Eye kohl in Smolder on the waterline, eye shadow in Print on the lower lash line, on the upper eyelid cream color base in Pearl as a base then eye shadow in Woodwinked from the inner corner to half of the lid and Print on the outer corner of the lid. Fluidline in Black track to line the eyes and reflects in gold on the inner corner and center of the eyelid and Zoomblack mascara.
Brows: Filled and groomed
Cheeks: Minerlize Skinfinsh, blush in Gingerly and eye shadow motif on the apples of the cheeks
Lips: Lip pencil in Current all over lips, lipstick in Diva and Amarous in center of the lips.

More beauty tips from M.A.C will be shared here on Confashions so keep watching this space.

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
