Sketchbook Magazine at Clothes Show Live

Sketchbook Magazine began their journey at Clothes Show Live when they were invited by Sister PR to recreate Carnaby Street London’s swinging sixties to coincide with the Carnaby exhibition headed by Judith Clarke at Clothes Show Live, Earls Court, London.

Sketchbook joined the crowd of over two hundred retailers, publications and caterers that made up the event; Sketchbook’s tenure at the Clothes Show Live included an exhibition featuring work from their chief illustrator Annie Driscoll, portraits of Twiggy and Vivienne Westwood were exhibited alongside 60’s antiques from the Carnaby exhibition. Bold silver letters reading ‘Carnaby Music Festival’ were in full view above the live music performances from ‘Eighteen Nightmares at the Lux’ and ‘Pocket Satellites’, two young bands that have collaborated with Sketchbook at their Pop-Up Shop Event.

In traditional Sketchbook style there were more than 20 sketchbook contributors, varying from illustrators, to writers, to web designers, to photographers that helped to turn a group of white walls in to a success recreation of Carnaby Street, London with a swinging sixties twist. With the constant flow of tea, coffee and cakes to keep the team going courtesy of Sketchbook’s editor-in-chief, Wafa Alobaidat.

The hard work certainly paid off when the opening of the event welcomed fashion editors such as Hilary Alexander from the Telegraph and celebrities such as George Lamb from Channel 4 who were in full admiration of Sketchbook’s Sixties Carnaby corner. The event was host to over 10,000 guests and Sketchbooks contribution to Clothes Show Live 2010 helped to make it a great success.
