Dear Confashion: AUK student wins first prize in UN competition

I get so inspired when i read success stories about ambitious Kuwaiti women.  This is another inspirational un-fashion related post that I just could not resist featuring. I got an e-mail  from NSA about a Kuwaiti female AUK student who won first prize in UN-HABITAT writing competition.

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme Office for Arab Cities announced the winners for the 2010 writing competition entitled "Cities, Climate Change and Youth".  The competition was open to  undergraduate and post graduate students below the age of 30, enrolled in any university in an Arab city.  First place went to a Kuwaiti student, Miss. Shaha Bader Al-Munaifi of the American University of Kuwait. The winner attended the United Nations World Urban Assembly in Rio de Janeiro from March 19-20, 2010 as a guest of the UNITED NATIONS. The runner ups Ms. Samah Muhammad Khalid and Mr. Nasser Sharaf Al-Ajmi will receive a certificate of achievement from the United Nations Habitat Office, with the possibility to publish their research on the United Nations-Habitat website. You can read more about it here. Congrats Shaha and best of luck.

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.
