Conspiracy Theory?

I have received the below by e-mail from one of my readers and wanted to share it with you. It is an interesting read:

Dear Confashion,

My friend, an expat, is a regular customer of net-a -porter. She has had several correspondences with them regarding paying some “duties” fees. She has contacted several officials in the British Embassy, DHL and the Kuwaiti customs regarding this issue. It seems that there is no clear policy about these fees. Kuwaiti customers are not obliged to pay any sort of fee for personal items. They shouldn't pay the Kuwaiti customs or the shipper. Although net-a-porter and DHL claim that this imposed fee makes the shipping process easier and quicker, they should refund the amount back to the customer when he/she receives the purchase. Apparently, the “duty fees” goes back to DHL and net-a-porter.

My friend is outraged and thinks that other Kuwaiti customers should be more aware of where their money goes. The issue is not about the money but the principle of being honest and credible. Customers should be more active and demand to know the details of their purchases when ordering from any shopping website.

Any ways, for more details
check out this article in Kuwait times.

Regards,
G Q

So what do you think? Do you think that we are being manipulated and taken for granted? How can we verify that the duty taxes are indeed imposed by the Kuwaiti Government on personal packages?

i guess the best way for us to avoid this is to support the local economy and shop local. I know this is a drag but so many sales are going on left right and center its a shame to sit at home and shop on the net... Karen millen's 30% off started today and I know a bunch of stores all started their sales as well and they have fantastic deals... i used to shop on neiman and saks and eluxury websites until i realized I was being suckered in with all the pics and got stuck with a very expensive dress ($3000) that didnt look nice on me and a couple of dolce shoes that were too big and too small on me. Enough is enough... and besides.. i am dooing my part in helping kuwaits GDP :)

if it doesnt exist in Kuwait fair enough to order off NAP but you can find everything an better in Kuwait.
i dont understand why so many cant just get into their car and get to the store they want to get those pair of shoes or bag or coat or dress they want.
im sorry but the minute i decide to buy off NAP (yes i do as well) i take all the negatives into account for being lazy or for just wanting another black NAP box!!

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Chanel Bags on Discount?!

If you thought that getting a cheap Chanel bag that's within your budget is something too far fetched, then think again. You'll be surprised to know that Chanel's boutique located at Salhiya Complex is currently selling several bags, that are a maximum 1 or 2 seasons old, on discount . And we're not talking about a 2 or 5% discount here, these bags are 50% off their original price! For some reason I always thought that Chanel bags never go on sale. But I guess the printed ones or the ones that are made out of the collection's main fabric have to go on sale. Anyways, I managed to take photos of these 2 beauties. What I love about those bags is that they're a classic shape that never goes out of style, their print is young and refreshing, plus they're quilted. I think they could be a collector's item. Both bags featured here are sold for approximately KD 250 .
