Cruisin’ Cocktails

Every true fashionista should own a stunning cocktail dress to use as a no-fail option on special occasions to make her feel exquisite. There's just something about owning a little party frock that is not in black. So ditch your LBD and just go with the colors of the season. I started my search for the risqué dress at Al Othman (great choice I know!) .

Al Othman seems to hit all the right notes with their gorgeous cruise/resort collections. By the way, I just realized that I've been to Al Othman more than to any other store here in Kuwait the past couple of seasons and tried on most of their merchandise in store. I just love it! Moving on…

I’m on the lookout for some killer outfits (again!) for several special and not-so-special occasions I’m invited to. So I ended up picking these fun and fabulous frocks.

Look at the detail on this white cocktail dress by Peter Som. So gorgeous! I loved the clean lines of the dress and it’s refined elegance. And just look at the beautiful combination of intricate chiffon trimming and black lace. Pair it with black Opaque tights and patent platform heels, and you’ll complete the scene. The dress is priced at KD 539.

Ok, I know this is not a cocktail dress obviously, but you need a chic evening cover-up for your LBD. I loved this Chanel-like belle chiffon-trimmed long coat, also by Peter Som. Whatever you do, just don’t pair it with the white dress. You don’t want to look too matchy matchy. The jacket is priced at KD 599.

Now this Oscar-ish yellow dress by Behnaz Sarafpour, was the first thing that caught my eyes. The design combines 50's style (volume dress) with a hint of 80’s style (yellow stripes). It's classy, chic, and very modern -perfect for events like house parties and weddings. The dress is priced at KD 759.

This fun Mayle dress with a deep V back can be dressed up for a semi-formal event with opaque tights and platforms or dress it down for a casual chic outing with a tuxedo jacket and shoe-boots. Price? KD 239.

Another addition to the yellow addiction is this lace mini dress by Collette Dinnigan priced at KD 398. The dress is young, fun, and party-worthy. Wear it with bare tanned legs and nude killer heels for small semi-formal parties.

Al Othman is located at Mariam Complex, Salem AlMubarak St, Salmiya. For inquires, please call (+965) 575-4954.

Isn't it a timeless piece?!? I liked it too.

I'm pretty much sure Al Othman are the only ones who sell Peter Som. I don't recall seeing green pants, but you can call them and check :)

You should try it on, it's very pretty :)

I'm not an expert on men's fashion and shopping. But you can always try Villa Moda (Free Trade Zone and Al Mubarikiya) and also try "Vintage" at Salhiya Complex. :)

Confashions habeebti, have you received your invite for the soft launch of Villa Moda Al Manshar yet?
I am confused as confused can be on what to wear to the VM do ?
Any tips you may have will be most welcome. Equally, pass us the contact details of some of the finest dress makers in this country who can stitch and tailor in 2 weeks flat. What will you be wearing or do you not want to let the cat out of the bag already ?
I am rather excited about the new Alef inspired book store they have coming up on the premises - twill certainly be a shot in the arm to bringing one's FQ up to speed.

Chanel Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection

I can't remember if I shared my views about Chanel's Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection on my blog or not, but I thought I'd share with you some photos of the pieces on display now at Chanel Boutique in Kuwait, Prestige in the Avenues and Salhiya Complex. I wasn't too crazy about the clothes. However, I did like some of the bags which had pompoms and tassels on them, as well as the gigantic pearl clutch. I also loved the Moroccan-inspired pointy flats and the silver jewelry adorned with coins and crescents. Of course the shoes were sold out in my size and I wasn't so crazy about the patterned ones. I LOVED the flap bag with Pom Poms, but it was above my budget. Overall the collection felt more Moroccan than Dubai-an. I wish if they have incorporate more of the our gulf region's culture into the designs. Oh And I added to this post photos of Chanel's milk carton shaped python clutch bag embellished with a CC signature. They're not part of the Dubai colle

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
