Sketchbook Studio Has Moved to Kingly Court

Sketchbook STUDIO  moved its base to an incredible space in Kingly Court, Carnaby for a specific period of time where they created a hub for 25 artists and holding a record number of photoshoots all whilst compiling their third issue.  This new hub of creativity was split over three floors, dedicating one of the 3 floors to a studio space for 25 new and established artists working on their individual projects or collaborations.  A huge range of work was included such as illustration, painting, sculpture, photography and film, there were no boundaries and the space is completely open to the artists’ ideas. Another floor was dedicated to live fashion shoots. The space was given to photographers and stylists from various publications shooting editorial spreads as well as designers looking to photograph their look-books and promotional shoots. Each day was dedicated to a new event creating a record number of consecutive fashion events outside of fashion week.  ...

I See Through You

Ever since I saw Prada's spring ad and I've been thinking of how cool would it be to have those as my new sunnies. I have found them in London a couple of months ago, but I didn't expect to see them here in Kuwait at The Sunglasses Hut to be precise. Not sure if I still want them though. Price tag? Around KD 59. The Sunglasses Hut is located at the Avenues Phase 1 opposite to the Gap store.

More from Amanda Navai

I have received these photos from Amanda Navai ‏ of her bags collection when they were on display at Bloomingdales Dubai. The 22 bags were completely sold out in 3 days. With Amanda's pricing scheme, I'm not surprised at all! She has also kindly sent me photos of her new shades, her green mini-bag is so irresistible. Oh! And you will soon be able to purchase Amanda Navai‏'s line at Goji Boutique .

Faking it

Nothing says stealth wealth as much as a good old faux fur or real harmless fur like lamb’s.  It provides instant glamor to any edgy and urban outfit, minus the financial damages. And I have found the perfect fur vests to start your Fall purchases with. Zara’s latest Fall arrivals include black and creamy fur vests. The creamy one is made from 100% lamb hair and it’s retailed for KD 59. And I loved its texture.  The black one is faux fur  and it’s retailed for KD 29 only. Pair it with this season’s on-trend maxi skirt and a fitted polo neck top. Or wear it with skinny leather for that rock’n’roll chic look. Don’t forget to cinch the fur vest with an aged brown leather belt, preferably skinny for that final touch.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

Even though I’m mentally prepared for Fall, I can’t help swooning over some iconic S/S 2010 pieces like this classic cut button-down silk dress overrun by giant tarantulas by Giles . I guess I’m having a spider’s moment lately. This stunning dress is currently available at Al Othman Boutique and it’s 50% off . Price after discount? Around KD 450.

Copy Cat: Rachel's Stripped and Ruffled Shoulders

For the perfect laid-back look that's still unmistakably stylish, take your cue from the always fabulous Rachel Bilson by pairing a stripped cardigan adorned with oh-so-feminine ruffled shoulders with straight-cut Bermudas, the Kuwaiti variation of the denim cut off shorts.  I spotted this black and white cardigan at H&M the other day and I immediately snatched it! It was only KD 9.900! A bargain!

Amazing Amanda

The first image that conjures up in my mind when I think of an elegant and sophisticated clutch is one made from exotic leather and in rich tones. But such clutches usually come with a hefty price tag.  That was my assumption until I got introduced to Amanda Navai bags. Iranian born handbags designer Amanda Navaian has founded Amanda Navai bags in 2009, with the focus on creating a collection of multipurpose colorful python bags targeting the fun-loving and fashion-forward women.  Each Amanda Navai bag is handmade with care, using top quality python snake skin, respecting regulations of The Convention of International Trade and Endangered Species. And the great thing about these bags is that their prices start at $600, which is a very reasonable price for exotic leather. One design that caught my attention in particular from the  Amanda Navai bags is the reversible bag , which "reverses" and becomes a totally different bag, it’s like having two bags for the price...

Put a Ring on it

Remember my post “ Guess the Song ” about the competition that was held by Selfridges in London? Well one of the items that were on the window display that caught my attention were these Gold and silver rock-chick tooth rings and I went to Selfridges the next day to try them on and  buy them. But of course with my short-term memory, the moment I stepped inside and saw all the stunning bags, make-up stands, and shoes on display right in front of me I completely got out-of-focus and forgot the whole purpose of my visit and only remembered the rings  when I posted the photo here on my blog. So after a month or so, I was thrilled to see them again on Net-a-porter’s “What’s new” page. The tooth ring is designed by Dominic Jones and it's 22-karat gold-plated ring . You can get it here .

True Blog Lovin’

Love is all around. I recently found out that my blog has been mentioned by the fabulous and forever funny Bébhinn Kelly of HellwaFashion.com as one of her favorite websites in an interview with her by Marie Claire magazine’s latest edition. And I also got my "claim to fame" moment through local newspaper Al Seyassah 's columnist Sara Al-Mukaimi , who sweetly stated that Confashions is one of her top four daily reads. Also how could I not mention the beautiful post written by the lovely Ansam a couple of months back. Can any blogger truly ask for more than the love and appreciation of his/her readers? A total e-bliss.  Thank you so much for all your kindness and for making my day.

Quelque Fleuri

It seems that LV has finally decided to amp up it's semi-boring monogram wallets and has just recently launched a new line of monogrammed and patterned wallets called the Fleuri line. The moment I saw them I completely fell in love because the floral pattern of the wallet’s lining is so reminiscent of Liberty’s lovely floral print which I’m a sucker for. The lining of Louis Vuitton’s Monogram Sarah Wallet Fleuri comes in refreshing pastel hues such as rose, violet, and vert. And has several compartments for your plastic cards and a zipped pocket for coins. Prices start at around KD 175. Louis Vuitton boutique is located at Salhiya Complex, Kuwait City.

M.A.C Magic

M.A.C worked their magic backstage on Day 3, 4, and 5 of Pearl’s Delhi Couture Week , where Indian designers Varun Bahl , Suneet Varma , Pallavi Jaikishan , JJ Valaya , and Anamika Khanna sent their models down the runway with a mix of dramatic and sensual make-up looks. M.A.C artists took their inspirations from the Indian heritage, Arabian nights, and the 50’s & 60’s eras but added a modern touch to give their make-up and updated look.  Here’s a sneak peek of the artists’ work backstage  and the name of the products used courtesy of M.A.C cosmetics… So, next time you’re invited to a wedding or a party, take your make-up tips right from M.A.C pros and print out the following face “cheat sheets” to show your make-up artists exactly what you want.
