I Love Souk

I went to I Love Souk, think Kuwait's smaller and limited version of Collette, The place is a concept store owned by Sheikh Majid Al-Sabah and part of the Al Sabah Art & Design Gallery. In brief.. I Loved I Love Souk. It is the place to go to for original gifts and unique accessories.

Yes my dear fashionistas, the photo shown above is for a vintage Hermès Birkin for sale for KD 2,700.

Funky cotton t-shirts with famous old and traditional Arabic lyrics. These would make a perfect bridal shower gift.

bright and bold hair accessories are still in, and I actually liked these daring flowery hair bands by Little Shilpa. They reminded me of Diane Von Furstenberg's models on her Spring runway. The hairband was around KD 65.

This is the cutest chicest keyhanger I have ever seen by Anne-Marie Herckes: Miniature Couture. The keyhanger is handmade and inspired by the big icons of fashion such as Chanel and Hermès. Anne-Marie keyhangers are sold at Colette in Paris and now they're available in Kuwait's I Love Souk. The one I picked is inspired by Chanel with the signature quilted bag, a jacket, and ballerinas (around KD 49).

The classic vintage Chanel shoulder bag looked even better than the Birkin. Not sure of the price tag though. They also had two other smaller Chanel bags for sale.

Pieces of Maharaja's fine jewelry were also on display (not sure if they're on sale) but the earrings looked breathtaking.

Beautiful evening pieces at very very affordable prices. I loved an evening gown which was for sale for only KD 190!! And of course my favorite pieces of clothing was this evening shawl/cover up made of organza circular shapes

And this would make another nice gift for people who like to chew gums. A chewing gum holder (funny I know!) but it is creative.

This is a close up of one of the paintings currently being displayed at the entrance of Al Sabah Art & Design Gallery where I Love Souk is located.

Al Sabah Art & Design Gallery will feature new international talents and artists every 2 weeks and according to the Gallery staff, the artwork displayed will all be for sale for very affordable prices. The photo above is taken from a high view, so you can see how the paintings are being displayed for the current exhibition by Swiss artists Comenius Roethllsberger & Admir Jahic. And by the way, all paintings of Um Kalthoom are sold out.

I love Souk is located next to Al Corniche Club right on top of the Al Sabah Art & Design gallery.

This looks great! Does it have the same opening hours as the gallery so it's like 10 to 10 everyday except Friday?

Question about the brown Birkin, is it the 35 cm? Also, when you say 'vintage' here does that mean used? Because the price you quoted I think is around the same amount for a brand new one?

If I'm not mistaken, the gallery closes at 9 PM.. not sure though..

I think it was the 35 cm. And yes it is used (or at least that's what the sales guy claims).

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
