Do Your Homework Before You Spend

Remember in one of my previous posts when I compared the prices of one identical dress at two different stores in Kuwait? Well, here's another interesting price comparison brought to our attention by the owner of "Pinkmoon Boutique". Apparently, this grey coat by Graham & Spencer is 66 pounds more expensive at Net-a-porter than it is at MyPinkmoon, and that's excluding the minimum 30 pounds shipping fee you would have to pay for international shipping.

Still not convinced? Then check out the price difference of Paul & Joe's Loose fitting silk black and beige dress at Pinkmoon and ShopBop.com. Interesting, isn't it?

Pinkmoon Boutique owner has also added that: "At Pinkmoon, we have a lot of designers that other sites carry, but with us you not only get a great price, you get it the next day". Very convenient!

Brands sold at Pinkmoon include: Botkier, Development, Graham & Spencer, Julie Sandlau, Kenneth Jay Lane, Mannoush (coming soon), Mint, Paul & Joe, Paul & Joe Sister, T-Bags, Tibi, True Religion.

So what's the lesson learned from this post? Do your homework and research before you spend and splurge.

In order to aviod the 30lb international shipping requirement, you can use a mail forwarding company like http://www.bongous.com

They will set you up with an American address and will hold any purchases you make in the US and forward them to you in one box. It is a great service for anyone that lives outside the US!

Thanks for sharing such valuable information! I have never heard of bongous.com and it was very interesting going through their website so thanks again :)

You may also try Myusa.com. They will pay for merchandise that you wish to purchase using their Credit Card, PayPal account or Money Order. By default, Access USA will charge your credit card for all Personal Shopper orders for reimbursement. Visit their site to learn more.

I think the prices we see currently on NAP are already TAX free. If I'm not mistaken since the revamp of their website, they can identify users who visit their site and from which country they are from, so by default they'll show you the prices tax free if you're a non-EU resident.

Net-a-Porter is tax free in terms of VAT, but you still have to pay import duties and taxes, which are about 15 pounds per item, plus 30 pounds shipping for first item plus more for each additional item.

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
