I'm thrilled to share with you that Dries Van Noten has officially opened in K-town. The new shop, located at the Al Thuraya Complex, has a big range of garments and accessories from Van Noten’s collection for Winter 2011. The boutique, opened by Al Ostoura Group, evoked the spirit of a luxurious and sophisticated yet comfortable Parisian apartment. I loved the interior and was amazed by the fact that each original piece of furniture in store has been carefully and personally sourced by Mr. Van Noten from salesrooms and antique dealers in Belgium and across Europe to reflect his very personal and eclectic style. Think Victorian brass-mountain satinwood display cabinet, a brass spiral 1960’s Italian Chandelier, grey painted Louis XV revival 1920’s writing table, and more.
The collection on display had a pretty and colorful range of Van Noten's signature mix'n'unmatch styles of artisanal brocades, Jacquard mixed with boucle tweed, and a whole lot of embroidery and embellishments. And since I'm a sucker for the brand's shoes and accessories, the first thing I did was trying them on. Especially the bags, the way the designer mixed different colors of snakeskin with other material and garment made them into pieces of art. A must-visit if you're a Dries Van fan!
