Event: Dress Code at CAP Kuwait

I passed by Dress Code Project the other day, an art exhibition hosted by The Contemporary Art Platform (CAP) and curated by Amal Makkawi and Martina Corgnati. They showcased the works of twelve artists hailing from Algeria to Pakistan and from Turkey to Egypt to the Emirates, via Syria, Lebanon and Iraq. It was interesting to see how the artists used various techniques and forms of expression to create unwearable dresses with a hidden message, think collage, multimedia, photography, industrial material, and installations. Featured here are some of the dresses that caught my attention.

The Contemporary Art Platform is located at Life Center (Industrial Shuwaikh, Block 2, Street 28, Top floor). The same building as Eureka/Midas. The exhibition will be on until 21st December.

Can you imagine the time and effort it took to create the dresses shown in the photos above and below? Amazing.

A close-up of the art drawn on the metal dress

Islamic/geometric patterns on a plastic dress, very Marni-like no? Previous post here.

I love the library area of The Contemporary Art Platform so modern and fresh, I wonder who made the tables...

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Chanel Bags on Discount?!

If you thought that getting a cheap Chanel bag that's within your budget is something too far fetched, then think again. You'll be surprised to know that Chanel's boutique located at Salhiya Complex is currently selling several bags, that are a maximum 1 or 2 seasons old, on discount . And we're not talking about a 2 or 5% discount here, these bags are 50% off their original price! For some reason I always thought that Chanel bags never go on sale. But I guess the printed ones or the ones that are made out of the collection's main fabric have to go on sale. Anyways, I managed to take photos of these 2 beauties. What I love about those bags is that they're a classic shape that never goes out of style, their print is young and refreshing, plus they're quilted. I think they could be a collector's item. Both bags featured here are sold for approximately KD 250 .
