Last Moda Standing - Part I

If you have a vintage shop or planning to make some quick cash by selling hard-to-find designer items on ebay, (here's a business opportunity for you!) you need to rush to Villa Moda Shuwaikh now.  Until recently, I was under the impression that Villa Moda has closed down with the rest of retail shops in the Free Trade Zone..  And the funny thing is that I replied to one of my readers who asked me about it saying that it's probably closed by now. But then the next day I received an SMS from Villa Moda announcing that they're having a grand sale on all items in-store! So obviously, I went there and the moment I came close to the giant building's entrance, my heart sank and I felt really sad to see such a legendary place that put Kuwait on the fashion map dying and deserted! There were very few staff around the place, the stairs at Prada Boutique and Ferrgamo were very dusty.  And lines and lines of crammed clothes replaced the neatly displayed merchandise. But hey, that didn't stop me from shopping! I rolled up my sleeves and got down to business. I was surprised to see some brands that were unfamiliar to VM-Kuwait branch such as Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Giambattista Valli, and more. But I guess they were part of VM-Bahrain's stock? Anyways, all items were up to 75% off except items from S/S 2010, they were marked 50% off.  Is that their final sale? Probably. For how long they'll be running the sale? I asked the sales guy and he didn't know.  By the way, they only accept cash so you can't use your K-net or credit cards. However, they did set-up an ATM machine just outside the building.  So, let's see the items that caught my fashion radars (I'll be introducing them in 3 posts)...

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
