Créme Of The Crop

Co-owner of Créme Boutique in Bahrain Rawan Al Mannai has just jump started her career in fashion. Her line Créme Couture by Rawan Al Mannai has recently been debuted at Bahrain Fashion Week and received great reviews. Rawan graduated from VCU with a major in Fashion Design and Merchandising.

Créme Couture managed to take our breathe away. It felt like Rawan designed this collection with a character in mind: a girl with a penchant for soft colors and feminine accents. Her figure-flattering creations focused on overblown evening gowns cut from luscious silks and fine tulle details. The collection also included a selection of fun day wear of summery jumpsuits and charming dresses.

It is very heart-warming, inspiring, and thrilling to see such creative talents from Bahrain and this region. I loved the collection and I hope to see more in the near future.

Sorry, but there's nothing original in her designs. I'm sure she's good, but it's not that creative and innovative, as we've surely seen the same look a million times before.

Exaggerated should are so Balmain, and the traced chiffon skirt was so Oscar de la Renta last season. I'm not even going to mention to ever so popular flower design on the second dress.

While it's great that she's showcasing her "talents", she needs to think outside the box. Just because you're the "first" Bahraini, Kuwaiti, or whatever designer doesn't necessitate that there'll be mediocrity in your designs. I'm not being harsh and maybe it's just me, but I don't find anything special in her designs. Bil Tawfeeg bas, and Allah Yi9la7ha.

To me, the fact that she followed her dreams and worked hard on achieving sth, makes it deserve some appreciation especially since this is her first try.. I'm sure she will take that as constructive critisisim and produces even more beautiful pieces for her next show/collection.

I think the collection looks incredible and maybe it's not the most original but the fact that a Khaleeji girl designed such magnificent pieces says a lot! Hopefully it'll encourage more Khaleeji girls and guys even to try to make something of themselves as well :) good luck to her!

The pink gown is gorgeous. Bravo Rawan!! And I actually agree with Confashions. There's nothing wrong with constructive critisisim. :)

Honestly, by just looking at these 2 or 3 designs, it seems like she's going to ROCK!! I can't wait to see her go international!
I really like the desings of the dresses, not to mention how they very well go perfect with the material she handpicks, which overall results in a very beautiful feminine work-of-art or creation.

I fortunately met Rawan, and I'm not saying this as a friend, but as non-biased reviewer, she is a very talented young woman with a lovely flare for life and fashion design and constantly strives in keeping up-to-date with the latest fashion, which she really loves and understands.

Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia USA, has over 10 schools. The VCU School of Art, which Rawan successfuly graduated from, is one of the top 10 art schools in America and one of the highest ranked art schools worldwide that brought to the world many beautiful artists.. Which is why when VCU opened a branch in Qatar, only the VCU School of Art opened overthere, because of it's high reputation that it always maintained! I even honestly tried appplying with a GPA of 3.4 and yet I was refused! Rawan studied in both Qatar AND the US branch to get enough knowledge that would help her make her dreams come true!

The first review was very shocking for me to read, specially from someone that seemed to know what he/she was saying.. Even though it shows some unneccessary personal issues might have some interference, but regardless, we shouldn't randomly talk useless (with all do respect) and say her designs aren't nice or whatever.. They are beautiful and we should all help and motivate each other in this fast growing fashion world, specially as Arabs/Muslims, and avoid any hurtful words that won't do anything but make the artist feel worse (which I'm sure won't it does for his/her supporters, at least.)

Rawan, your'e amazing. Keep up the good work, like always :)

She seems to have a unique style. Each time she presents she'll be able to refine the style to be more fashion forward. With her background she should do well.

Even though Anonymous stated that it wasn't as innovative or creative.
I'd have to agree that it isn't anything new...But!
I'd have to hand it to her, the girl obviously has TASTE.
Anonymous you have completely disregarded the this NEW, FIRST TIME DESIGNER, not to mention a Bahraini (AKA Khaleeji) had made a perfect combination of materials/fabrics/ and colors which from what I have seen is very rare.

What I can see from the photo's is that she perfectly structured her gowns I'd have to look at them first hand to tell if they're couture or not, but even so.
What often I see from Khaleeji designers is the over use of crystals, feathers, and sequined fabrics that make me want to throw up.

Though Rawan's collection is not very unique and new, not saying that the designer herself is not those things but she made the most important thing clear and that is;

she IS a Designer, and she IS looking for Quality.

Now that nobody can argue with.

Saks In Bahrain

I went to Saks Fifth Avenue store in Bahrain. The two-level store is located in City Centre Mall and has a collection of American and international clothes designers for Men and Women as well as jewelry, accessories, handbags, fragrances, cosmetics, intimate apparel, bridal, and children's apparel. However, I was slightly disappointed by the small selection, maybe because all items were on sale? Or the number and variety of brands were limited? Anyhow, my favourite section at Saks - Bahrain was Saks's world-famous 10022-SHOE salon (shown in the photo below). It had the same look & feel of the NY's shoe salon but of course not the same space. The Shoe Salon had really nice selection and they were all on sale! I have been told by Saks Sales Assistant that they will be hosting numerous special events throughout the year such as fashion shows and personal appearances by designers. Now that's something I'd be interested in! In addition, they currently offer in-st
