Madame Mantis

After so many failed attempts, I have finally managed to visit one of the hippest home accessories and lifestyle boutiques in K-town, Madame Mantis. And I wish I visited this place earlier because as I started browsing its stock I realized I must have missed on so many cool stuff. Madame Mantis is the kind of place that sells items that can create the perfectly decorated room, which expresses your unique sense of self, and helps you find the perfect items for gifts or everyday. These are things that can make a difference in the overall look of your room or your look. It displays a carefully curated collection of home accessories, art, home furniture, fashion accessories, lighting and more. I spent at least an hour in-store skimming through each item. And compared to other boutiques in Kuwait with similar concepts, this one is quite budget-friendly. Scroll down for a look at my favorite things.

Madame Mantis is located at Shuwaikh Industrial area, AlMutawa Complex, next to Spring Flows. 

This pop-up model is part of one of the coolest coffee table books I've ever seen. In celebration of the Neiman Marcus's 100th anniversary, the iconic department store published this pop-up book which uses seven spectacular pops to tell the story of a girl's journey through Neiman Marcus from past to present. It does make such a  unique gift for a true collector or the fashion obsessed. Unfortunately, it is NOT for sale. I know what a bummer! 

A wall decorative piece made from real insects.. creepy and pretty at the same time! The sales guy then informed me that this piece is by an artist named Christopher Marley. His Pheromone collection incorporates everything from insects, fossils, crystals, and even feathers. He collects and arranges these pieces by hand. Each insect or object is laid out symmetrically and become studies in both color and scale. I honestly have mixed feelings about his work, pretty? Yes. Creepy? very! Definitely not something to hang in your dinning room.

These tables are beyond stunning! They're like nothing I've ever seen before! One table would set you back KD 1,000+ though.

I bought 4 different illustrations of these. They're quite unique.  

Head pieces that would make Anna dello Russo green with envy. My favorite is the "Love" headpiece shown below.

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
