An Evening with Moda Operandi in Kuwait

Last night I had the pleasure of attending an event hosted by Moda Operandi, which I have introduced on my blog previously here. Basically, MO is an online luxury fashion retailer that allows you to pre-order the latest runway collections from the biggest designer names in fashion including exclusive ready-to-wear, accessories and jewelry - immediately following their runway show. Which means, you get the "it" piece before it hits the shop floor.

The event was held at the presidential suite of Hotel Missoni's 17th floor. And as I stepped inside the suite's lounge area, I was immediately drawn to Moda Operandi's display of vintage Hermès collection (shown below), which I believe were sold out by the end of the evening.

The intimate and well-organized event started with a presentation about Moda Operandi by its Co-founder Áslaug Magnúsdóttir, which explained how the site works and how M’O shoots photographs and records videos of the complete designer's collection worn by MO models so that clients can get a detailed look of the piece before they place their order. The online Trunk Show runs for almost a week, and that's when you can pre-order the piece and place a 50% deposit. What makes the site different than other retailers is that many of the showcased items will never be available in stores. I guess it doesn't get more exclusive than that! Then the floor was open for Q&A session followed by dinner at the suite's terrace. And as the evening started to wrap up, the hostess held a draw for the event's stylish attendees and two lucky winners were randomly selected. The prize? TICKETS TO NEW YORK FASHION WEEK Feb 2012!! Isn't that fabulous!?! Congrats to the winners! And please do fill me in on your experiences!

Thank you to the lovely Ms. Fatema Al Gharabally for organizing the MO event and for having me as part of your evening. More pics are coming soon...

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.
