A Crafty Kuwaiti

Ibrah, sewing needle in Arabic, is a well-known brand name in the local fashion scene. And being a supporter of creative talents within our region in general and my hometown Kuwait specifically, I felt it's only natural to share Ibrah with all of my beloved readers. Ibrah is the brainchild of a Kuwaiti designer who started out by making necklaces and bracelets for her family and friends. She had enjoyed it so much that she decided to take the next step up, and that is introducing Ibrah officially to the world. Today, the brand which specializes in designing handmade accessories, is being sold online and is instantly recognized by local fashionistas.

Ibrah's designer takes inspiration from items she sees in stores, fashion magazines, and online and tries to present them but with an innovative twist. "I get fascinated and curious on how some designs were made, so I examine the garment closely and try to figure out how it can introduced differently, once I learn that I try to find away to implement their methods in creating a necklace or a brouche for Ibrah." expressed the designer. "For example my cream collection was inspired by the Christian Louboutin's ruffle shoes.". Ibrah's designs include necklaces, t-shits, headbands, brooches, and more.  Featured here are some of my personal favorites.

You can order Ibrah's designs here or through twitter here and If you wish to contact Ibrah's team directly, please send an e-mail to ibrahq8@gmail.com.

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
