A few months ago, my sister was vacationing in France and stumbled upon an old French Elle magazine from the 1950s at an old bookstore. Knowing how much I love fashion and appreciate vintage she bought one copy as a gift for me. Needless to say I was over-the-moon!
According to wikipedia, Elle was founded by Pierre Lazareff and his wife Hélène Gordon in 1945. The title, in French, means "She".
As I skimmed through its old and delicate pages, I really felt like owning a piece of fashion history from what is now the world's largest fashion magazine! The magazine also makes a fantastic inspiration for people in the industry, there’s lots of great fashion photography and fantastic advertisements. I was surprised to see how huge the trend of wearing plaid was back then. Fashion really goes through the same cycle huh?
