Maharishi at Panacheous: The Cargo Comeback

The cargo pants. My everyday look in the mid 90's, when I first went to college. My first pair were of course by Maharishi which had a huge colorful embroidery on the side. I My mother purchased them for me from Villa Moda for KD 60 or 70 I think, back then that was a lot of money. So I had to beg for months to have them.  I wore them with my denim jacket until they got worn out.  Such a sad, sad day when I finally had to part with them. And do you remember when Nicolas Ghesquiere brought cargo back to Balenciaga in 2002 when he sent models down the runway in stunning silk pants in khaki and pink? They were way above my budget so I settled for an inspired-by-Balenciaga pair from Mango

Now 10 years later, I was thrilled to see the comeback of the cargo pants when I received an invite from Panacheous Boutique for a private preview of their new adults and kids collection of Maharishi, they came in light fabric for the summer as well as heavier cotton for chilly weather. And there was a selection of t-shirts, and matching iPad and mini iPad covers. The event was perfect because it was cozy, I got to view each piece without rushing or distractions, the lovely owner of Panacheous Sarah Al Wazzan was, as always, impeccably and stylishly dressed in Chanel accessories and a cute blue fur hat. She walked me through the collection and the new additions to the store. Scroll down to view highlights if the Maharishi collection.

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
