Lovely Lara

In the midst of the rapid growth of new and emerging fashion designers in our region, whether talented or talentless, it’s always a treat to find someone who can produce the same, if not better, quality and creativity of high-end designer brands. Allow me to introduce you to a new Beirut-based talent: Lara Khoury.

Lara Khoury, a 26 year old ESMOD graduate with a strong passion for designing couture-like pieces, has joined fashion designer Elie Saab in Beirut in September 2006 to learn more about this mesmerizing industry. Fast forward to 2009, Lara became one of the few designers chosen by renowned Labense fashion designer Rabih Kayrouz to be a part of Starch Boutique in Beirut, a laboratory of new ideas, and showroom for contemporary young Lebanese designers.

In 2010, Lara Khoury found the assurance to launch her first collection; and opened her own studio and workshop in the heart of Beirut. Her Spring 2011 collection was recently launched among friends and esteemed guests.

On May 2011, Lara Khoury was selected to represent Lebanon on the second generation of the Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode in Marseille (France). The program offers a platform for artistic and cultural cooperation between Euro-Mediterranean countries to unite, reveal and support young fashion designers based on both sides of the Mediterranean Sea.

Featured here are some of my favorite Lara Khoury designs from her recent and previous collections. I love how she mixes opulence with minimalism. There is always one interesting point of detail to focus on. Each item gives the illusion of constant movement flowing through fabrics. So pretty!

For more information, orders, or inquiries, please call (+961) 1 44 34 26. Lara Khoury headquarters is located at 406 Gouraud street, Gemayzeh, Beirut, Lebanon.

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Amazing Alia

Several months ago I posted about Alia Designs , a Kuwaiti talented designer of traditional clothes and dresses. Back then, I liked one of the items featured on her website. This time I'm going ga-ga over her latest Ramadan collection of Kaftans and darraa'at! Especially the one shown here on the first picture. Looks very young, comfortable, and oh-so-perfect for after futoor! For inquiries please visit the website or call (+965) 642-7400.
