The Thrill Of Bargain Hunting

I love to mix old with new, high-street with designer brands. And since there isn't much to do here during the summer, I decided to go bargain hunting (my latest summer obsession) at Villa Moda Mubarikiya. I was astounded by the amount of gorgeous items one can get at amazingly low prices and use for seasons to come. The store has a huge selection from its designer collection marked up to 70% off, including pieces by YSL, Vivian Westwood, Bottega Veneta, Marni, Manolo Blahnik, Gucci.. and more!

In my upcoming posts, I'll be sharing with you some of my favorite finds, what to avoid, and what to look for. I know I shouldn't, but I'm already tempted to go bargain hunting there again soon for some more fab and unique pieces to add to my semi-vintage wardrobe collection.

Dear Confashions, i have a party coming up... can i still wear black opaque tights with my mini dress or will it look "old", "last season" ect ?

I know what you mean! I love pairing things that are low key with high end stuff it really adds style and I think it's more creative. But don't just confine yourself to Villa Moda for your bargain hunting I would definitely check out the online stores in the UK and in the States there's plenty of sales still going on.

Now I'm the one arguing with the bleeding heart in your Chanel post and you didn't answer my question! What do you think about the classic Chanel necklace? The pearl and silver Chanel emblem?

If your party will be held sometime during july/aug/Sept, don't go for the opaque tights. Instead, give your gems a good scrub, some self tanning lotion, and you're good to go. On a different note, opaque tights are still in for next season, but instead of bright plain colored ones, designers have gone all out with prints, stripes, plaids, and some lace details.

You're right but nothing beats the fun of shopping (offline) ;)

As for your question, don't hesitate for a second to buy a classic chanel pearl necklace. It's something you will treasure forever. I love it piling on pearl necklaces, and they would look perfect paired with a tux jacket or a boy's fit blazer. It doesn't hurt to buy a modernized chanel flap bag as well ;) like the one you have mentioned in your previous comment.

Dear Connie :

We should very much like to see you host the local edition of "The Bargain Hunters" show on prime time TV.
Ask around to see if Al Watan or Al Rai TV might want to take you on as anchor.
Rgds,
Anony
Bargain Hunting is nice but honestly here in Dubai "chaneh soug semach", as I quote a freind of mine who came from Bahrain for the ultimate Dubai Shopping experience. Its very difficult to find the nice pieces on sale, How did you get to find these pieces?

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
