The Thrill Of Bargain Hunting - Part I - Cocktail Hour with YSL

The first item that caught my eyes when I first started my bargain hunting journey at Villa Moda Mubarikiya was this cocktail dress encased with matt gold sequins from Yves Saint Laurent 's Fall 2006 Ready-to-Wear. The dress has a retro chic feel to it and major "standout" factor. I liked how the bow perfectly sits on the waist. And what makes it even more irresistible is the fact that It's YSL and hits two of this fall's trends at the same time: Sequins and bows.

The dress was originally priced at KD 3,524. Now it is marked down to KD 1,057. Definitely a vintage collector's item.

Villa Moda Mubarikiya is located at Abdulla Al-Salem Street next to KNPC's head office. Tel: (+965) 241-1072.

I'm totally with you in that it's gonna be high end vintage in the future. Still, I don't think it's nice to be honest. See that's the problem with sequins, a touch of them can look nice but too much of them makes an outfit look like bought cloth from Almbarikiya and had a tailor put it together. This is all the more apparent in this piece since it doesn't show too much skill in tailoring. Note the sleeves for examples. They're very bla. Just hangin' off like that with no shape. I don't know hun I'd say this is a no go.
Yulla what else did you see!? :D

Magical Mode

As anyone who regularly reads Confashions may know, there are some designers I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time: one is the genius Erdem , the other is Nicholas Kirkwood , and Pierre Hardy . And because their designs are somehow easily accessible online and offline, I had the pleasure of featuring some of their creations and showing them the love they deserve. That said, there is one designer I’ve been particularly smitten with for quite some time. He has always been on the top of my favorite designers list ever since I was introduced to his designs by my fabulous fellow fashionisto Adnan Z Manjal   a couple of years back : Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi . I always wished I featured him more. I couldn’t because his pieces are very exclusive and as far as I know not stocked anywhere here. This clearly isn't just another post on my obvious love for Mohammed Ashi’s designs or the quality of his clothes as I have done that previously. Ashi simply deserves his very own epic p...

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?
