Dear Confashion: Shatoosh and Pashminas

Dear Confashion,

I received a forward yesterday from of a friend and thought of sharing it with you, since you're into these things and I see you post about them every now and then.

Exclusive "SHAHTOOSH & PASHMINA" scarves hand made with hand embroidery, straight from Kashmir! Unimaginable prices! Call 9832103

I personally called the guy and bought FIVE scarves (1 for my husband)! The price range is KD 250 to KD 4,000. They're all worth the price!! He's much cheaper than what's being sold here! One more thing, they are 100% authentic, and the good thing about him is that he comes right to your place! I hope your readers will enjoy the beautiful shawls :)

Thank you,
F.S.G

Thank you SFG for sharing this with us. It would also be interesting to know what other readers think of the shawls if they got the chance to buy them from the shahtoosh guy.

in mo way are they "unimaginable" prices. I have personally been to India and bought many authentic Kashmiri pashminas and shatooshes and these are nowhere near a bargain.

yeah me too ,, last yr we bought shawls from India the finest pashmina was around 100KD and the shatoosh was around 600-700kd.

4000 KD?? are you serious?!!! thats a RIP OFF!

you dont even want to imagine how much the people in india who made these shawls got paid for it!

you could spend this money to go to india for 2 days and buy the shawls yourself and pay the people who laboured over it a decent wage instead of robbing them blind and letting some jerk make a massive markup in profit!

i am still in shock. 4000 KD!!! insane

does your shahtoosh have any blood in it?

just for your information...something to think about...

The antelope, hunted down specifically for its fur is now listed as an endangered species and given the highest possible level of legal protection

The selling or owning of Shahtoosh was made illegal in all countries that signed the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, including USA, China and India. Even though it is banned, the illegal hunting of antelops, and the making and selling of bloody shahtooshes continues around the world BECAUSE NO ONE GIVES A BLOODY DAMN ABOUT ANYONE EXCEPT THEMSELVES

pashmina, shahtoosh, pashmere, or whatever they are called and whether legal or not....
4000 KD is a joke!!!

miss guesqhiere,
it might be illegal and it surely is in most parts of the world (so is the iconic monkey fur ALAIA coat) but trust me that wont make many kuwaitis beat an eyelash. many things in their lifespan is illegal...
they might wanna think about those first before pondering whether they would go to prison for a shahtoosh thats hanging in their closet

Pashmina's been getting a lot of flak from the Western press but having said that my friend Khazanchi who is a local from Srinagar in Kashmir assures to get me a pashmina shawl - the real thing for only KD. 30.
And that my lovelies, is the true price of a pashmina, not the ridiculously over-heated price tag it carries of KD 500 -4000.
Moral of the story : when in India never shop at a luxury 5 star shopping arcade but to head to one of those cosy State owned Handicraft emporiums.

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.
