Knock Off the Knockoffs

I know I have addressed this issue a couple of times, but this time I just couldn't help it. I had to get it off my chest. During my recent visits to many Ramadan Exhibitions. I have noticed an alarming trend. Many of the exhibition holders who were displaying their "original" pieces were actually displaying designer knockoff dresses. This is just plain wrong. It's somehow acceptable to make designer inspired pieces, but not copy the entire design to the last thread. Would you rather be known as the girl who had an exhibition of designer knockoffs or the girl with the ultimate sense of creativity? As a designer, how do you justify a knockoff? Here are a couple of the designs which were copied:

Temperley's S/S 2007 white dress with black embroidery. The "designer" opted for a yellow background instead of white. You know, to make it look "different".

Pucci's S/S 2007 cobalt blue dress. And by the way, there was another Max Azria copied dress but I couldn't find an image of the dress online.

I guess so... :)

Blue dress
I'm still against the idea of copying a designer dress and selling it in an exhibition as my original creation... :)

Thanks for the tip & welcome to my blog ;) I did try firstview.com first, then style.com, but it wasn't featured there. I guess because it was part of the cruise collection.

Not all of the exhibitions are bad. Just some of them :)

Chanel Bags on Discount?!

If you thought that getting a cheap Chanel bag that's within your budget is something too far fetched, then think again. You'll be surprised to know that Chanel's boutique located at Salhiya Complex is currently selling several bags, that are a maximum 1 or 2 seasons old, on discount . And we're not talking about a 2 or 5% discount here, these bags are 50% off their original price! For some reason I always thought that Chanel bags never go on sale. But I guess the printed ones or the ones that are made out of the collection's main fabric have to go on sale. Anyways, I managed to take photos of these 2 beauties. What I love about those bags is that they're a classic shape that never goes out of style, their print is young and refreshing, plus they're quilted. I think they could be a collector's item. Both bags featured here are sold for approximately KD 250 .
