Confashions Featured in Viv Mag

Guess what? More shameless self promotion!! I was recently featured in Jordanian-based lifestyle magazine Viv Mag  as part of their feature titled  Fashionistas in Cyber Space , where they profiled three of Middle East's top fashion bloggers. It's such a great honor to be named that and be among my fellow top bloggers. So to the editors at the  Viv Mag  – a huge thanks for the shout out and for choosing me!

Outfit of the Day

I call toady's outfit the first-graders big art project. I bought it last year from boutique N and it was my first Vika Gazinskaya purchase. For some reason, it has the ability to lift my mood in an instant. I guess there's something about the scribbles of crayon on plain canvas, they just make me happy. I paired it with my green mini- Chanel perforated cross bag, which I bought ages ago, and a pair of this season's Pierre Hardy heels, which I bought from Symphony boutique in Dubai last month or so.

Video: The Backstage Video of Lanvin Women's Winter 2013 Runway Show

It really is interesting to get to see what happens behind the scenes of a fashion show. This backstage video is of Lanvin's A/W 2013 collection. According to the description of the video clip "the Lanvin studio is a laboratory of emotions in which fabric is the means to express every metamorphosis and bright idea. Stories are told in sparkling letters, and the words "Love", "You", "Hot", "Cool" become medallions that glitters in the night."

Webby Wednesday: DesignedByCulture.com

We normally associate shopping online to buying mass-produced merchandise that fills the shelves of  a retailer. DesignedByCulture.com is anything but that. This is not your typical online store. It's merchandise selection is driven by travels to  faraway cultures . Everything in this website is chosen and selected for its handmade qualities and uniqueness. "I love to travel so I am a backpacker at heart. During my trips to places like Kenya, Nepal and Peru I come across beautiful cultures and sometimes local artists." expressed the owner of  DesignedByCulture.com . "This is where the idea of starting  DesignedByCulture.com  a kinda blogshop where I bring back some pieces i found from my trips or (mostly now) work with artists that i came across and believe in their work and hence introduce them to Kuwait." I fell in love with the Munecas dolls, they're hand-made and dressed with hand-woven alpaca wool which, according to the site, can be felt ...

Accessories That Define a Look

Accessories are often overlooked. As a wardrobe essential, they can make all the difference in your outfit. Actually sometimes when I'm thinking of what to wear to a certain occasion, I first scan my accessories, shoes to be more specific, and try to build my outfit around the chosen accessory. So buying a bag or a belt, or even a pair of new shoes is a big deal to me. They have to do all the talking. And you know what's the best part is? These accessories are super easy to grab or put on and manage to make a huge impact, without worry about gaining weight! I was browsing the shop floor of AlOthman boutique   and spotted 4 items in the accessories category that caught my fashion radars. The first item is Victoria Beckham's two-tone oversized clutch shown in the photo above. It looks so practical and roomy! As for the jeweled box clutch shown below by Jason Wu , it looks like something you'd fetch from your mother's collection of gorgeous vintage pieces. And t...

ORA Boutique

Last week I had the pleasure to attend the re-opening of ORA boutique . They owners, Ahmad Al Reshaid and Marco De Nardi, have relocated the boutique from Omniya Mall in Salmiya to the mezzanine 1 of Salhiya Complex. A great decision they have made as I felt the boutique is more accessible now, not to mention the convenience of having a huge parking space all around the area.  The interior of  ORA , which means "now" in Italian, is a mix of industrial and hip.   The style selection is  amazing and so unique  I ended up buying a skirt and a vest. The selection is mostly representing Italian fashion brands, 13 to be exact and exclusively stocked at  ORA , from new and emerging fashion designers with a focus on premium streetwear. Brands such as  Carlo Contrada , who won the famous  VOGUE ITALIA  new designer to watch,  Isabel Benenato , a Central St. Martin alumni who has unique edgy deconstr...

S.H.O.E.S

Dubai is one awesome place, I don't think I could ever get bored there. Yes I was in Dubai (AGAIN!) last weekend. And my stay wouldn't be complete without a shopping trip to the mother of all shoe stores in this region, aka LEVEL . The shoes selection is just unbelievable! Shopping there is always an overwhelming experience. I won't dwell on how fabulous the store is because that's been already established several times here on my blog. So let's get straight to the point: my favorite picks, starting with these fabulous   Alaïa  circle-detail suede sandals. Reed Krakoff   mesh heels Exclusive to Level? Wow! Impressive! Jason Wu sandals with cute pearl details... looks so Chanel-ish I know this sounds very crazy (very very crazy!) but how cool are these Maison Martin Margiela   hair/something covered heels?!! I wouldn't dare to wear them.. or maybe with denim cropped pants? They're so quirky cool!

Mise en Dior Necklace

You're always the belle of the ball when you pick the most gorgeous pieces to accessories your gown or party dress, wouldn't you say? I saw this mind-blowingly stunning Dior twisted multi-row necklaces with clusters of pearl beads, and embellised with satin finish metal, oval metal links, and grosgrain ribbon at the brand's boutique in Dubai. I was instantly hooked. The details of the design gave classic pearl necklaces a younger and modern feel. I can just imagine pairing it with cocktail dresses or even caftans for Ramadan. Such a beauty! I checked if it's available in Kuwait, unfortunately it's not. BUT I'm hoping with the opening of Dior's BIGGEST boutique in the Middle East at Grand Avenue in Kuwait, which is sometime by the end of this month, we'll get to have easier access to such beautiful statement accessories.

Outfit of the Day

I have a weakness for easy-breezy trapeze-shaped summery dresses. They're ideal for days when I don't want to think of what to wear, and especially on days when its over over 50 degrees outside! I found this dress at Cacharel boutique in Arrraya Complex. I liked the fact that it has a ruffle detail at the lower front part of the dress. And on the back, the dress is completely straight with a longer length. I wore it with my TopShop  light denim skirt to avoid any unwanted "Marilyn-Monroe's-Seven-Year-Itch" moment (remember her famous scene where she stood over a subway grating??). I wore it with my favorite turquoise stones necklaces, my comfy fuchsia Prada sandals of S/S 2011 I think, and my  Olympia le Tan   clutch. I forgot to take a photo of my pony-tail, but I had it tied in a checkered silk scarf. It looked very retro paired with my 50's-inspired printed dress.  Cacharel Runway photo credit Style.com

Gaia Repossi for Zadig & Voltaire jewelry

While I was in Dubai over the weekened, I passed by Zadig & Voltaire's boutique at Dubai Mall. I wanted to see if they have received their latest jewelry collaboration with Hollywood's favorite rock'n'chic designer Pamela Love . Apparently they didn't receive them yet, they're actually expecting them in a couple of weeks. They did however carry a selection of rings and bracelets by another jewelry collaboration:  Gaia Repossi , which I think was launched a year ago. The collection  entitled Metamorphosis , have the same look and feel of the original designs by the designer which I think it's great! And  I loved the fact that the rings don't break the bank either!

Hi! My Name is...

If you happen to look for a very special gift for your beloved fashion-maven friend, may I suggest that you get her  Edie Parker's  bespoke clutch? I recently received mine, b espoke nude pearlescent  flavia  clutch with gold confetti text, and it's just so pretty! And I love the fact that it comfortably fits my two mobiles, home/car keys, lipstick,  and  some cash. I must admit, the concept of trasnforming something commercial into a customized and personal item is very clever indeed. I got sucked in to the idea, especially after seeing the clutch carried by the likes of  Anna Dello Russo  and  Giovanna Battaglia . It gives your accessory some sort of identity I think. I placed my order through  AlOthman boutique's  personal shopper. Basically I selected the model, material, and colors from  Edie Parker's  palate. And received it within 3 or 4 weeks I think.   Not bad at all ha?

Sandals That Won't Break the Bank

These sandals might look plain-Jane due to the way they're displayed stacked next to each other, but when you look closely, like me you'd probably like a pair or two. Those on the lookout for comfortable breezy summer sandals with budget-friendly price tags, look no further, because Bimba & Lola has quite a fun and colorful selection in-store. I liked the grey sandal shown below, third style from the left. And the one next to it with yellow straps is not bad either! These styles were spotted at  Bimba & Lola   boutique at 360 Mall.
