My Trip to Souk Salmiya

I had been nagging my friend for quite some time to go to Souk Al-Salmiya with me as I have never been to it before. After constant harassment, she finally relented. Let me tell you guys, this is the place to go if you want to see the weirdest designer replicas ever! I wouldn’t have guessed that it would make a great (and unforgettable) blog post. I took pictures of all the “interesting” products being sold there. And I chit chatted with a few "charming characters". You know the type, salesmen with painstakingly assembled slicked-back hair and a 5 inch long pinky finger nail (eew!).

I had to conceal my smile as it broke across my face when I saw the strange array of products and designer brand replicas being sold. From designer bedding (LV, Coach, Fendi, Dior… you name it, they have it!), to humongous Fendi Flower-shaped hair clip. Simply bizarre! Here are some photos of the brand replicas..

Despite my reservations, I couldn’t help myself when I saw the "I love garlic" face lift cream!!!!! Promoted by the photo of actress Kristin Davis of Sex & the City (if she only knew!).

I tried to take photos as much as I can to feature them here, most sales people didn’t mind. But one started shouting at us which made us exit the Souk with speed I did not know I had. Such a memorable trip.

U guys do realize ur coming across as very bratty?
Some people don't have their daddy's thousands to spend on designer goods especially during recession. The least we can do is not make fun of their lifestyle!

Love the Garlic-Davis add...

And I should go to Souk Al-Balad to scout for such "teasures" :-D

And dear anonymous#4,please do not be a "dumbo" (I'm trying to make this a friendly as possible)...
There's not shame in not having enough money and buying luxury items, buy with you have and you can still look super fab in complete Topshop, without resorting to buying fake designer accessories. And I do believe that is what Confashions is trying to promote...
A real Zara bag is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than a fake Prada bag...
GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!?

The last thing I want to do is make fun of the less fortunate, especially now... AZM exactly explained my point, don't spend your money on fake brands. High-street stores have an amazing collection of clothes and accessories and you can look on trend without spenging a lot of money.

And I wouldn't spend a dime on an authentic LV or Gucci Bedding (if there were any), let alone on fake ones. They'd look super tacky anyways...

My Dear some people can't even afford to buy that and spare me the name calling. I tried to make a point people didn't get it, i understand. I really don't want to start an argument here. Thanks for the effort fr being friendly but try being gentler next time (no offense intended at all):)
Oh and yes I GOT IT!!!!!!

I totally agree with Anonymous 4, some people buy these brands without even knowing about the background of these brands, they just buy it because its cheap and suits their style. Moreover, judging other peoples decision is hurtful and arrogant. Finally, its an additional shame if you are a kuwaiti and never visited souk al salmiya and mubarikiya..

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
