An Affair with Hermès

I have a love/hate relationship with Hermès. I love the Birkin (but not when I see it in the Avenues at least 6 times in one day! Or at very formal events), I love Lindy, Kelly, Jypsiere, JPG, HAC, Kelly Longue, Clic Clac bangle, scarves.. etc. But I hate the attitude of it's staff, not all of them of course. Some of the sales people I met in different Hermès Boutiques were extremely friendly and down to earth. But the majority had a major attitude. Maybe that's part of the brand's identity?

Anyhow, The 170-year-old luxury brand is now available in Bahrain's Moda Mall. It seems that Hermès has not been affected by the recession like other fashion houses. Because I saw 2 kellys in store that were snatched up immediately the next day. And sorry girls, No birkins are available for now.

I recommend to anyone slightly ineterested in the Birkin story to read MICHAEL TONELLOs bok
"Bringing home the Birkin"
It is a great read and just shows how "easy" it is to get a Birkin :)

Well,
I like the "Men's" giant purple Birkin that Pharell carries around all the time with his Donald Duck slippers inside.
And you're right Anonymous1, Hermes is Pure French Luxury...
(No Hermes in Saudi yet!)

Regarding the staff issue, they are stuck-ups, remember the Oprah incident in Hermes Paris boutique a few years ago?!
That was heinous:-D

Confash Hermes havent been affected by the recession because most of their revenue doesnt come from small leather goods targeted at the middle market (like Gucci). They have waiting lists which secure them for at least two years. It is a BRILLIANT strategy!
oh and AZM: ME TOO!!! i adore that huge croc purple monstrosity, its like King Tut in Saint tropez ghetto FAB!! and i adore Pharrell.. even more after he asked me to come on stage in a concert! :D

Miu Miu Pays Tribute to the Middle East

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a soft spot for bag charms. They're fun, cute, and add a dose of irresistible character to your plain handbag. So when I got the news about Miu Miu paying tribute to the Middle Eastern culture by presenting an exclusive playful yet multifunctional accessories in luxurious precious skin, I got excited intrigued. The round-shaped charms has the Arabic alphabet, each piece presenting a letter design with metallic hues and vibrant colors. They're cute, nothing groundbreaking. I'm not sure if these bags charms would step up my bag charms game, but I guess it depends on their price tag and how "exclusively" exclusive they are. Maybe they'll grow on me? I don't know... What do you think? The charms should be available exclusively in  Miu Miu   Boutiques throughout our region.

Amazing Alia

Several months ago I posted about Alia Designs , a Kuwaiti talented designer of traditional clothes and dresses. Back then, I liked one of the items featured on her website. This time I'm going ga-ga over her latest Ramadan collection of Kaftans and darraa'at! Especially the one shown here on the first picture. Looks very young, comfortable, and oh-so-perfect for after futoor! For inquiries please visit the website or call (+965) 642-7400.
