The Talented Mr. Sultan

Finally! A Kuwaiti designer who knows how to keep you ahead in the style and fashion areas. Allow me to introduce to you the talented Mr. Tahir Sultan.

Tahir Sultan, a Central Saint Martins graduate and interned with John Galliano, has proven himself with a refreshingly sensual, avant garde, and original approach to design in this region with his Spring/Summer 2008 collection. Tahir's work is piece of art, playing with details such as ruching, pleats, fabrics and texture using neutral and basic colors on fitted jackets and body-conscious dresses. Tahir Sultan's collection delivers the perfect combination of street style and formal chic for those who like to make a statement on and off the street. I can't wait to see what Tahir has come up with for Winter 2008 collection. Until then, we wish him the best of luck and all the sucess in the world.

Tahir is great.

Been following on him for a while now.

Hearing about him her and there and what he's doing.

Definitely, along side Mohammed Ashi and Lamia Asudari are definitely Khaleeji designers to keep an eye on them.
They have enough talent for the rest of the world and not just Kuwait and Saudi.

ok i am happy there is a creative kuwaiti designer. and his designs are really interesting. but non of these designs are flattering its even making the model look short and stumpy.. im not saying he wont be successful inshallah he will, and i know ppl will go ahead and wear it. but a good designer should know how to flatter the wearer ( us normal people)
but again i am happy that there is some one here being serious and coming up with something new.

My feeling is Mr.Sultan had a certain Ms.Thunderthighs in mind while designing.His clothes are most wearable in Kuwait, if indeed, you live in a compound or a mansion.

this guy is good and there is a lot of potential from what i can see.
talent? yes!
inconsistent? yes yes :(
it is very junya watanabe and some of it reminds me of comme.
if he had left some of the looks out of his "lookbook" he would have been better off. it would make the collection cleaner and more consistent.

The clothes are a tad adventurous to be worn in an ultra-conservative Kuwait although they will be some good winds coming from Riyadh and Jidda.

This is merely informative, not an attack: in terms of its PEOPLE (im not speaking of gov laws or the practices of foreigners)CrackKola, kuwait is the most liberal country in the gulf. Saudi Arabia is one of the world's top, if not the premier violator of human and especially women's rights on the planet!! In assuming that Kuwait is a Saudi Arabia except a little more so, you were very mistaken!! Its okay, you're new. But i just always assume that people know stuff.

As an Alumnus from Central St. Martins, I have to say that Sultan could very well be accused of plagarism. His designs are very much (in certain cases an exact photocopy)similar to what graduates at st. martins have showcased earlier on. On guard taher.

"Big fish in a small Pond" Just coz he may have got a government paid scholarship to St. Martin's those Unis will accept any foregin students because they are worth more than 3 native students. Secondly anyone can get an internship especially if you offer to make tea for free. There was already a Balenciaga so try something more original. What is it here everybody either wants to be the next fashion designer or they have opened up some sort of boutique and none of it is original. How about trying to improve what is already here now that is where genius comes into play. Fashion designers are not originators they are supposed to reinvent the wheel in a way that sells they are not here to discover a new type of species. Which is what they try to do. Then they go and ASK the local newspapers or magazines to do a piece on them!!

Chanel Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection

I can't remember if I shared my views about Chanel's Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection on my blog or not, but I thought I'd share with you some photos of the pieces on display now at Chanel Boutique in Kuwait, Prestige in the Avenues and Salhiya Complex. I wasn't too crazy about the clothes. However, I did like some of the bags which had pompoms and tassels on them, as well as the gigantic pearl clutch. I also loved the Moroccan-inspired pointy flats and the silver jewelry adorned with coins and crescents. Of course the shoes were sold out in my size and I wasn't so crazy about the patterned ones. I LOVED the flap bag with Pom Poms, but it was above my budget. Overall the collection felt more Moroccan than Dubai-an. I wish if they have incorporate more of the our gulf region's culture into the designs. Oh And I added to this post photos of Chanel's milk carton shaped python clutch bag embellished with a CC signature. They're not part of the Dubai colle

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
