Heard It Through The Grapevine...

Phase two of the Avenues will include boutiques of big designer names in the fashion business such as Kenzo and Chanel. Also, Al Ostoura alone will open 40 standalone shops including: See by Chloé and Marc by Marc Jacobs. The only thing that I'm sure will be dreading is the looooong walk from TopShop to any boutique located in the 2nd phase of the Avenues.

I have heard that before, is it true that Al Ostoura sells taqleed (counterfeit) items or is that just a rumour?

Oh and I have also heard that LV sells fake items as well is that a rumour as well ?

Arnt these too many shops for the kuwait market to sustain alone? I would understand if we had tourists but we dont make it easy for non GCC nationals to come into Kuwait. I wonder how this will affect the smaller shop owners. How are they still giving out so many lisences for stores and malls and salons. I wish I could get this explained to me.

Im so exciiiited about the boutiques! The only problem is that now that means alot more people are going to be buying the same items, and 50 other girls will be wearing the same see by chloe dress as me ;( Do you have any idea when the boutiques are opening up?

see by Chloe is open, so is Manoush, Kenzo, Nicole Farahi. Marc by Marc Jacob is opening real soon as it seems. Plus I know for fact that Carolina Herera, Saks, are also opening there soon.

We are already fighting over limited pieces ..now I too share your worries of other people repeating the IT dress/bag/shoes

but in the end its going to be FUN!!

only those with envy have the audacity to spread vicious rumors about Al Ostura, no, I do not work for them, but have been a customer since forever. What I have heard from insiders is that VM sells counterfeit items and there have been many complaints brought up against them in the chamber of commerce, this also came from pissed off women I met who were informed by boutiques abroad that their Gucci wallets/handbags were fake.

the new addition at the avenues will feature many to die for boutiques (am talking major names, like you have died and gone to heaven) it's going to be cut throat and survival of the fittest. Play nice everyone and must say that I expected people in the industry to better guard this affair, must be difficult since negotiations have been going on since over a year ago.

In free markets, governments shouldn't stop a certain type of store from opening . The business owners should decide whether their business will be profitable enough or not.

In Kuwait you don't need foreigners to spend money for these stores to profit. If Kuwaitis were to spend just a fraction of the amount of money that they spend abroad in Kuwait then then no business will ever have to close shop.

I don't know about fake items but what it annoys me in some of their stores is how they mix their old merchandise with their new one.

beats me! I always compare our purchasing power to Dubai's.. but one thing I know for sure is that Kuwaities have a passion for fashion and would go to extreme lengths to spend money just to look good.

well if you think about, a long walk indoors in a temprature controlled environment, might not be so bad.. It'll feel like you're strolling down st.honore' (well sort off hehe.) By the time I get to chole's boutique, her skinny jeans will just fit me better hehe.

There clearly are two fashion vulture camps in Kuwait; one swearing by Al Ostoura and the other by Villa Moda. Quite why they should dis one another so much escapes me.It's good to know L'Avenues as shopping destination is arriving, even if somewhat fashionably late.
With zero tourists coming into Kuwait growth of the luxury goods segment looks to be well, not so promising. Sooner or later, Kuwait is going to have to open the floodgates to the Russians, Chinese, the Indians and high net worth Iranians if only to ensure decent footfalls for the many mega malls we have coming up right here in Kuwait.
It's a shame not one of the newer malls carries a major book store in it, though. But I forget we live in a country where make-up and sexual harassment is, by and large, a national sport of sorts with books deemed redundant - only for the sissies and pansies among us.
Very sad.

Oye! we cannot let that pass. While it is true make up and accessorizing are religion in Kuwait, sexual harassment in the malls at least, is a tribal sport mainly, for the Jahra or the Fahaheel set and imported chiefly into Kuwait from neighboring Saudi Arabia.

I truly urge the discontinue of requesting case sensitive information regarding the brands to be, these companies have gone through great lengths of keeping matters undercover, this leakage may jeopardize not only their future advertising plans but possibly their professional relationship with certain fashion houses.

LV & the house of Chanel have extremely high ethics when it comes to the representation of their products, they do not tolerate counterfeit items and have been known to take out extreme measures in the form of legal action to ensure their integrity.

uncalled for censorship plays a factor in the quality of reading material in this country, how history of fine art or linguistics are relevant to religion is beyond me.

Chanel Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection

I can't remember if I shared my views about Chanel's Dubai Cruise 2015 Collection on my blog or not, but I thought I'd share with you some photos of the pieces on display now at Chanel Boutique in Kuwait, Prestige in the Avenues and Salhiya Complex. I wasn't too crazy about the clothes. However, I did like some of the bags which had pompoms and tassels on them, as well as the gigantic pearl clutch. I also loved the Moroccan-inspired pointy flats and the silver jewelry adorned with coins and crescents. Of course the shoes were sold out in my size and I wasn't so crazy about the patterned ones. I LOVED the flap bag with Pom Poms, but it was above my budget. Overall the collection felt more Moroccan than Dubai-an. I wish if they have incorporate more of the our gulf region's culture into the designs. Oh And I added to this post photos of Chanel's milk carton shaped python clutch bag embellished with a CC signature. They're not part of the Dubai colle

Altuzarra or Aquazzura?

That is the question. It took me a whole season to finally tell these two brands apart, and this season, there's no mistake, each brand is now engraved in my fashion database like a personalized Tiffany's pen. And this Resort 2015 season, I'm head over heels with their flats, on display now at AlOthman Boutique . Altuzarra's version comes in a tonal-gray water snake and are decorated with beige shells, red beads and silver sequins. Aquazzura's lace-up sandals come in a beautiful shade of apple green, and will work with white or bright colored casual summer outfit.  After much thought and sole-searching, I have decided to go for the  Altuzarra   sandals. They're safely stored in my closet, waiting for the dust and the cold to go away.  Which pair would you go for?

To New Beginnings...

"What did this Corona crisis teach you?" my friend asked. My first thought was thing crisis has opened my eyes on the simple pleasures of life. My priorities have changed. And I feel every day is a new beginning. First of all, it made me realize how much I miss blogging. How simple and mentally satisfying it was to jolt down my thoughts on a field that I was very passionate about. I have to admit that I'm not as passionate now. Don't get me wrong, I still like fashion, but it's now on the bottom of my priorities list. I would like to blog about other things too that I feel much related to. I recently discovered that I do enjoy cooking. For the longest time, cooking to me was a nightmare.  This corona crisis has taught us that we can look forward to a new day with new possibilities to contribute or to help another, or to simply approach things differently, and most importantly to make the most of each day we have and share that goodness with others.
